Chapter 2

The captain called us 3 and the tall man to the control room. "All right, let's hear your names first." "I'm Gon!" "I'm Kurapika." I was just leaning against the wall, trying to look cool in front of Kurapika. Also maybe for support because the boat was shaking a lot. "I'm y/n." I replied. The tall man looked a bit upset but he responded. "My name is Leorio." The captain asked us why we wanted to be hunters. I'm not really sure why people are so interested in this information though. The tall man named Leorio seemed more upset now. "Hey, you're not an examiner. Why are you asking us?" I mean he wasn't really wrong. "Just answer me." Gon was quick to answer. He's really sweet. I'm a bit concerned for him because this exam can be pretty dangerous.

"Hey boy. Stop being such a busybody." Man he's really pissing me off now. "There's nothing wrong with telling him our reasons." Gon replied. I mean, he's not wrong either. "Yeah, there isn't. I want to become a hunter for the adventure." Leorio glared at me but he doesn't scare me. "I'm not telling him anything." He's so stubborn. "I agree with Leorio." I looked at Kurapika. "Hey! You must be younger than me! You should address me with honorifics!" I glared at him. "Coming up with a logical lie to avoid answering annoying questions is easy." I'm confused. "Hey! Did you hear what I said?" Leorio yelled. Me and Gon were just staring at each other. I'm already tired.

"I'm not going to tell you because it's personal to me." Personal? I'm very curious now. "Report to the committee that these two are disqualified." Huh? "What do you mean?" Pfft I bet Leorio regrets his decision now. "You still don't get it? The Hunter Exam has already started." "What?" Leorio and Kurapika have already been disqualified? I'm fine with Leorio being disqualified but I wanted to be friends with Kurapika.

"There are countless people who wish to pass the Hunter Exam. But there aren't enough examiners, nor time, to test the candidates one by one. Hence, they hire people like us to screen the participants first. So the rest of the participants on this boat have been disqualified as well. If they couldn't handle the storm, they can't handle the actual Exam." Thank god I answered him. "I'm actually the last remaining member of the Kurta clan. Four years ago, a band of thieves known as the Phantom Troupe killed my people. I'm going to become a hunter to avenge them." I feel really bad now.. that's really sad not to mention traumatizing. "So you want to be a bounty hunter?"

"Money." Leorio said. "I'm becoming a hunter for money." Of course he's greedy too. I just had to get stuck with him. Finally the boat reached its destination. We all got off and started walking down the path. "Guys wait!" Gon ran after us. "Yeah Gon?" "The captain said we have to go the other way." "The map says this way so I'm going this way." And there goes Leorio. Me and Kurapika followed Gon but eventually Leorio ran after us too.
