That school day had come to an end, and Caleb met Max outside in the school yard. Caleb wasn’t too keen about going grave digging, but he supposed it was a quick job to collect potential evidence and prove the actual death of Emily Marshal.

“How about sundown, tonight.” Max suggested an orderly time for this event to commence. Caleb sighed.

“If what Nora said was true, why did it want to kill me?”

“Maybe it was a werewolf.” Max shrugged.

Caleb gave him offended eyes. “Shifter.” He corrected, ignoring his notion.

Max made an ‘O’ face, as though he really cared whether the term was right or wrong.

Nora had come from the front doors, seeing the conversing boys just outside in the school yard.

“Any ideas?” Nora began as she entered their conversation, knowing exactly what they had been discussing.

“We’re digging up her grave tonight.” Max spoke blatantly.

Nora shot eyes at Caleb. “What?” She was hectic.

“It’s the only sure way.” Caleb defended. “It’s the only way to find out whether her death was a cover up.”

“Thats completely irrational, digging up her grave? Not to mention extremely disrespectful to her family and-“

“Then don’t come.” Max spoke blatantly again.

Caleb sighed, knowing an argument was going to erupt.

Nora twitched her nose, thinking about what he had said, then squinted her eyes.

“I want to go.” She folded her arms, matter-of-factly.

Caleb narrowed his eyes to her. “You want to go dig up a grave with us?”

Nora nodded proudly. “I’m part of this now. I should come along.”

Max moaned. “I doubt you could pick up a shovel.” He muttered.

Nora huffed, rolling her eyes. “I’m surprised you even know what a shovel is since you’ve never done any form of labor in your life.”

“All right, all right.” Caleb intervened. “If we are going to figure this out together, you have to put the bullshit to the side for now, okay?”

Nora pursed her lips as Max rolled his eyes.

“Fine.” Nora said.

“Whatever.” Max said.

You are going out with friends tonight? What the hell has gotten into you? Who ever you are, keep my old brother. I like the new one better.” Elsie joked, astonished by her brothers social life that had been nonexistent for most of his life as she scrubbed the dishes in the sink.

“I won’t be out for too long.” Caleb spoke at the breakfast bar, although he knew this was a likely fib.

“I don’t care. Greg is coming over tonight for dinner anyway.”

Caleb scoffed, remembering the horrible, middle aged man he had met a week ago.

“You’re still with that guy? He probably has a whole soccer team of illegitimate children.” Caleb rubbed his face, feeling quite irritated at his sister’s choice of men.
