Winter Solstice

               Introduction

         Everyone has a secret of their own that they don't want to tell anyone. Sometimes they have family problems that they don't want anyone to know about, or they have a physical problem. Maybe they have a personality glitch or they have something in their past that keeps them from doing things that normal people do.

                Well I have a secret too! But it isn't one that you would really expect. See, I'm going to tell you what it is, but you aren't aloud to tell anyone without my permission okay? Good.

             My name is Maia but people just call me Mia since it's easier to say. I am a Polaroid. Well actually, I am only half. You see, my mother was a Polaroid but my father was human. Every now and then I get to see my mother but mostly i just live with my dad here in Clarthesesburg.

            Now I'm guessing that you don't believe me. I wouldn't believe me either! But I do have a tail, and there is a whole other world that full Polaroids live in. Sadly i can't live in that world because i'm not a full Polaroid.

            A Polaroid is basically a human/wolf. We have tails and ears of a wolf but they range in different colors. I only have a tail since I'm half, and i love it. Its the tail of a grey wolf. It's mostly a grey and white color, but the tips are a beautiful greyish blue. I'm always getting compliments on it from Polaroids who don't mind me being only a half-breed.

          Hiding my tail isn't as hard as you would think it is. Every morning i just have to take this pill that makes my tail disapear for 2 hours at a time. So I do have to take them at school, but most people just think its medication for something.

Chapter 1

My eyes flutter open as the light peeks in through my shaded window. I roll over and try to fall back asleep but it's useless, i'm awake.

"MIA!" i hear dad shout from down stairs, "You better get your furry butt out of bed right now or your going to be late to school!"

Yay! It's the first day of school!

NOT!

Ugh, dad and I just moved into this town a week ago and today is my first day at my new school. I have to make new friends, meet new teachers, get new seats, all the fun stuff. :(

I grunt and make myself get out of bed. Reaching over my alarm clock, i grab my pill and gulp it down with some water.

After slipping on some jeans and my favorite shirt, I make my way downstairs.

"It's still really weird seeing you without your tail" my dad says staring at my butt.

"Dad" I say "First of all i havent had a tail for a while now, and second of all, if you keep staring at my butt like that everyone is going to think that you are a pervert."

I see him blush and hide his face with the newspaper out of the corner of my eye.

My animal senses (I dont really have any) say that today is going to suck.
