My Choice

Rayna POV

The next day I find myself sat in catering with Jeff, he's holding my chin and moving my head inspecting my lip. I know people are staring and talking but I couldn't care less.

"Well the swelling has gone down a little" he says "maybe you should keep icing it"

"It's fine, it's not like I'm taking part in beauty contest" I laugh

"Hey I could paint your face, hide it a little" he smiles

"Maybe some other time" I say smiling back at him

He runs his thumb along my swollen lip and I flinch as he does, he stops but doesn't move his hand. He's about to say something when I feel a tap on my shoulder.

"Ray can I talk to you" Mickie asks looking back and forth at me and Jeff

"Sure" I say turning to Jeff "I'll be back in a minute" and he nods

As I stand up I see the look on his face it's the same one as yesterday when Lana was being a bitch, before I leave I place my hand on his shoulder and he looks at me.

"Don't worry so much" I say smiling and he smiles back

I follow Mickie out of catering and into her locker room, she closes the door behinds us and asks me to sit.

"I heard about yesterday" she said "with Lana"

"Oh you mean this" I say pointing to my face "don't worry she paid for it"

"No I meant you defending Jeff" she says looking worried

"What about it" I sigh

"She's telling everyone that you two are a thing" she sighs

"What" I laugh "that couldn't be further from the truth"

"So your not" she asks

"No" I smile "Mickie he's a friend, he got me a fresh ice pack yesterday and she was unnecessarily nasty to him"

"A friend?" She asks "he was touching your face"

"Oh my god, he was checking my lip" I gasp "Mickie you're my best friend and I love you but please trust me"

"I do" she says "just promise me you will be careful"

"I promise" I sigh "you know he might not show it but the way you all treat him hurts him"

"I had no idea" she says "no promises but I'll try"

I nod and leave, it's only one person but it's a start, I head back to catering and find Jeff just where I left him. I walk over and sit beside him.

"Hey" I say

"Hey Ray" he says smiling "How'd it go?"

"Oh fine, but if I see Lana she's going to get knocked the fuck out" I growl

"Calm down she's not worth it" he says

"She's told everyone that we are a thing" I sigh

"She what?" He says raising his eyebrows "why?"

"Look I gotta go do my match, we'll talk about this later" I say

After the match

Rayna POV

I head back stage and I am pissed, I was about to win my match when Lana interfered with Dolph. I am so done with her and her games.

"You ok" Jeff asks as I storm down the corridor

"This shit ends now" I growl and carry on walking heading straight for Vince's office.

When I get there I don't even knock I just walk in.

"This ends now" I growl

"Rayna what seems to be the problem" he asks

"Lana her and Dolph interfered in my match tonight" I shout " and on top of that she is spreading rumors"

"Mm i heard about you and Mr Hardy" he says

"We are friends nothing more" I say

"Ok well I suggest this gets sorted in the ring" he says

"Fine mixed tag team match her and dolph against me and a partner of my choice" I suggest

"Agreed so who is your partner going to be" he asks

"Well the logical person would be Jeff" I say "since the rumours are about him too"

"Very well the match will be next week" he says "you know we could make a good story line out of this"

"What do you have in mind? I ask eyeing him suspiciously

"A romance storyline with you and Jeff" he says "you get a good push and he gets the chance to prove himself"

"No promises but I'll speak to Jeff" I say

"Excellent" he says rubbing his hands

I leave the office and head to my locker room, I close the door and lean against it. This was not what I had in mind, I just wanted to end things with Lana and know this. How the hell do I tell Jeff? We barely know each other we've only just become friends.

On the other hand this could be good for him, it could change peoples opinions of him.

I take a quick shower and get dressed shoving my ring gear in my bag. I sling my bag over my shoulder and head out of my locker room only to walk straight in to Jeff.

"Ray I've been looking for you" he sighs "are you ok?"

"Yeah look would you mind coming to my room tonight?" I ask, he looks at me eyebrows raised "not like that Hardy, we need to talk" I laugh

"For a minute there I thought you were hitting on me" he laughs

"Trust me you'd know if I was hitting on you" I say playfully swatting him.

We say our goodbyes and I head back to the hotel, I can see this conversation being very awkward.
