Moving Forward

Jeff POV

I wake up the next morning and I feel like I've been hit with a truck. I feel a weight on my chest and look down to see Ray fast asleep on me. Oh god please tell me she didn't see me drunk.

I look around the room and there is no evidence of my drinking anywhere, damn she saw me. I go to move her arm off me and notice the cast, shit I really let her down last night. I head for the bathroom and take a shower.

What did I do to deserve a friend like her, how in the hell has she not run a mile in the opposite direction.
When I leave the bathroom Ray is awake and looking straight at me.

"Morning" she says "hows your head"

"It hurts but I deserve it" I shrug "what happened to your arm?"

"Lana" she sighs "I'm out for 8 weeks"

"Ray I'm so sorry I should of been there" I say looking at the floor

"It's ok I understand" she says

"What do you mean?" I ask

"I saw the text from Randy" she says "I understand"

"Oh god" I say rubbing my face "i am such an idiot"

Ray walks over and sits beside me, she gives my hand a squeeze and looks at me.

"Why didn't you talk to me" she asks

"I thought he was right" I say

"Well he's not" she says "and I told him as much"

"You what?" I ask

"After I saw the text I went back and gave him a piece of my mind" she says "then I spoke to Vince"

"Oh god" I sigh "I'm going to get fired"

"No your not" she says "we made an agreement"

I look at Ray and yet again she has flabbergasted me, I screw up and she still defends me. I do not deserve her or what she has done for me.

"So what's the agreement" I ask

"You get the next 8 weeks off and I help you get sorted out" she says

"You want to help me?" I ask "why"

"Because your my friend and believe it or not I care about you" she says

Rayna POV

I know it's not quite what Mickie meant but it's a start, I do care about him and I will do whatever it takes to help him.

"So I guess you're coming to Cameron with me" he says

"I guess I am" I reply

Jeff wraps his arms around me and hugs me tightly

"Thank you Ray, for everything" he says

"You're welcome" I say hugging him back.

We break the hug and I head back to my room to pack up my stuff, I throw everything into my case as best I can with one arm and head back to Jeff's room.

When I get there he is on his way out of his room.

"Hey you ready to go?" He asks

"Yeah all set" I smile

"Let me take you case" he says taking it from me

"Thanks" I say

We check out of the hotel, get in to my rental car and head for the airport.

After the flight

When we arrive we are picked up by Jeff's brother Matt.

"Hey man" Matt says giving his brother a hug " whose this"

"Matt this is Ray, Ray this is my brother Matt" Jeff says

"Nice to meet you Matt" I say

"You too Ray" he says "are you the newbie that ignored the warnings"

"One and the same" I laugh

"So you staying with Jeff til the next show" he asks

"Nah I'm out for 8 weeks" I say showing him my arm

"And so am I" Jeff says

"You don't look hurt" Matt says looking him up and down

"I'm not I screwed up and Ray saved my ass" he says

"Not again man" Matt sighs

"It's ok that's why I'm here to help him" I say

"You got a good one there Jeff" Matt says

"Oh she's not..." Matt walks away before Jeff can finish

Jeff grabs our cases and follows Matt out of the airport and we get in the car.

The ride to Jeff's is a silent one with me looking out the window, Jeff picking at his jeans and Matt concentrating on the road.

We pull up outside Jeff's house and Jeff takes our bags inside.

"Hey Ray" Matt says

"Yeah" I reply

"Thanks for looking out for him" he says "I think your going to be good for him"

"He's been a really good friend to me" I say "It's the least I could do"

"You know where I am if you need anything" he says giving me a quick hug

"Thanks" I say hugging him back

"Well see you two love birds later" he says running before Jeff can get him

"Sorry about him" Jeff laughs

"He's cool, I like him" I say laughing with him.

8 weeks with the Hardy Boyz, this break isn't going to be bad at all.
