"Thank God for the Flame," Gabriel muttered as he shoved a piece of fruit into his mouth and he sat at the table in the middle of the room. My friends and I had all been locked in Cadogan's quarters. We'd at least been given food, but after everything that's happened today, I don't have an appetite. I paced back and forth in the back of the room as Gabriel continued. "Doubt they'd serve us Saji bowls in jail."

"How could you eat right now?" Octavia asked in confusion. The girl leaned back in the chair she was in, pushing her bowl away from her.

"He can always eat," Echo muttered. She isn't wrong. In the five years we spent on Skyring, or Penance, Gabriel was always eating.

I turned to Clarke as she spoke. "Gabriel's right. If they didn't believe I had the Flame, we'd be in cells."

I watched as the girl stood from her chair, walking toward the door.

"Where are you going?" Octavia asked.

"To wake the others. It's time to go back to Sanctum."

Clarke went to wake the others, but Gabriel stopped her. "Clarke, we're under house arrest."

The blonde girl nodded. "I'm aware of that. I'm also aware our leverage disappears the moment he puts me in front of that stone."

I crossed my arms over my chest, furrowing my eyebrows slightly. "So what are you gonna do?"

"I'm gonna offer to do it as soon as the rest of you are safely back on Sanctum."

Octavia immediately stood from her chair, walking toward my sister. "Clarke, they'll kill you."

Echo shook her head. "You are not sacrificing yourself for us."

Just then, the door to the room opened and Bill walked inside, surrounded by disciples and a man covered in dirt, his hair and beard long and raggedy.

Clarke stepped forward. "We need to talk. I'm ready to help you but only after my friends are..."

The girl trailed off as Bill motioned toward the door and a man slowly walked into the room. I furrowed my eyebrows slightly because he looked familiar. He had long, dark hair and a long beard, and he looked like he had been through hell and back. It took me a second before I suddenly realized who it was. I recognize those eyes. My arms fell to my sides as my heart pounded in my chest, so loudly I'm sure everyone could hear it. I let my face fall to one of shock. No way...

"Bellamy?" Clarke asked aloud. Octavia went to take a step toward her brother, but the disciples at the door raised their arms, ready to fire on command.

Bellamy's eyes went from Clarke to me. Five years... It's been five years since I saw his face. My voice broke slightly as I spoke. "H-how? We saw you die."

"It's hard to keep the Blake's down," Octavia said. Clarke stepped forward, hugging Bellamy. The disciples went to shoot the blonde girl, but Cadogan stopped them.

"Hold. She has the key." After a few seconds, Clarke pulled away from her hug with Bellamy. "I hope that now you're ready to help us, Clarke. Too much blood has been spilled. Each death is a child of Earth who won't transcend. I'll give you time to reunite while we make preparations."

Clarke nodded and Cadogan turned and began walking out of the room. All of a sudden, Bellamy spoke, turning toward the man, causing him to stop.

"My Shepherd..." Did he just say my Shepherd? No. Don't tell me Bellamy's with them. "There's something you should know. Clarke doesn't have the key. The Flame was destroyed... I'm sorry."

I stared at the man with wide eyes. What the hell did you just do, Bellamy?

I leaned my head against Raven's as we sat on the bed in the cell we were in. Raven and I were the only ones in this cell. I can't believe Bellamy is alive... Everything I've done-- all the people I've killed-- I did it all for nothing. Levitt was right... I am a monster.
