The glistening rays of sunlight shone down on the desert sands, which meant it wouldn't be long before the sun would disappear from the open sky. The imposing Gerudo Highlands stood towering above and beyond the dunes, like gateways to a place where no person that ever called the desert home would tread.

Such imposing giants hide many secrets from the world within these flat summits. For even in such a place where sand rained down into the open cavern below, a secret cavern lay hidden from the eyes in the cracks of this mountain range. At it's end was the only entrance to the hideout of the infamous Yiga Clan.

Many of them were the descendants of those who long ago decided to renounce their allegiance to the royal family and those who supported them to fight in the name of Calamity Ganon, the deity they adored. For thousands of years, they refined and updated their home hidden from the world in tunnels and caverns living their lives away from those who prayed to the goddess Hylia for protection.

Many young Yiga members trained within these confined walls, tirelessly learning from their mentors to become loyal members of the Yiga Clan. Doing whatever it takes to strive to be better.

Yet deep in this hideout, away from such training grounds where a child could learn to become a man, was a lone child unlike any of them.

This young boy with his natural brown hair was waiting in a small room, guarded by two guards that stood at the doorway, preventing him from going off to train with the Blademasters.

The young boy was quite headstrong, and always hid his kind heart from praying eyes that would see it as a weakness. For he knew that he wouldn't be a good warrior if he let his heart get in his way of making his own decisions. Just the thought of becoming a Yiga footsoldier was exciting to him, but even more so if he was to become the next strongest Blademaster in the ranks of the Yiga Clan.

He wasn't a troublemaker like other kids tried to be, he was old enough to know not to trifle with the powerful blade masters that he admired more than feared. No, this young boy often dreamed of the day he would be chosen to join the teens and adults. Fighting to serve Calamity Ganon in any way that he could to the deity the clan worshiped.

Sometimes, deep inside his mind, he doubted if he would ever get such a high honour in the clan. For as much as he wanted to be loyal to his clan, he wasn't born into the clan like everyone else had been. For there was once a time that had only been an orphan who was taken in by the clan. He would likely be dead if they hadn't.

He never knew his real parents, but that didn't matter to him as many people thought it would. Instead, he was a boy who wanted to prove his loyalty to the Yiga Clan. He considered them his true family, even if his stomach could not enjoy the bananas that they loved so much.

The boy hoped he wouldn't have to wait long in this room. He wanted to continue his training to prove to everyone he wasn't a weakling.

But as of this moment, silently waiting in this room with little to do. He wondered.

Why did he want to speak with me?

He knew that his leader often addressed everyone at meetings about important matters. The young boy had no idea what he could have possibly wanted, for this was the first time he had ever been summoned alone to any important meeting.

Suddenly, one of the young boy's pointed ears twitched slightly when heard the guards move behind him. At first, he thought it was the leader of the clan. But instead, it was Korge. The large blademaster towered above him, far more intimidating than the other guards. Although they weren't related by blood, he knew him as the father figure who raised him.

"Master Kohga will see you now, Kovar," he said, his voice was low and stern.

Kovar nodded and sat up to follow him. A part of him was both nervous and curious about what was going to happen to him. The other masked guards followed behind. He wasn't sure if he was in trouble or not, but the boy decided it would be best not to question Kohga's strongest guards.
