I followed behind the Dwarves as Thorin led them through the forest. We walked under fallen trees and over them, we walked up slopes and down slopes."Air. I need air," Bofur panted.
"My head, it's swimming. What's happening?" Oin said. The line stopped, causing me to bump into Kili's back.
"Keep moving. Nori, why have we stopped?" Thorin asked, moving to the front of the group.
"The path, it's disappeared," he replied, pointing at the cliff's edge.
"Find it. All of you, look. Look for the path!" As the others walked around, I found a place to sit while trying to clear the fog from my brain. Looking over, I saw a spider web. I plucked part of it with my finger and it sent vibrations all the way up the tree. We continued walking and my feet started to feel heavy. I looked down at them to see that they were moving backwards. I turned around to see myself. Turning back around, I felt like I was spinning.
"Look, a tobacco pouch," Dori exclaimed, grabbing it from Ori's hands. "There's Dwarves in these woods."
"Dwarves from the Blue Mountains, no less. This is exactly the same as mine," Bofur declared, staring at it.
"Because it is yours. Do you understand? We're going around in circles. We are lost," I told him, getting frustrated.
"We are not lost. We keep heading east," I heard Thorin say.
"But which way is east? We've lost the sun." The Dwarves started arguing, but I was too focused on the tree tops.
"The sun. We have to find the sun," I mumbled under my breath. I could see it through the leaves. "Up there. We need to get above the canopy." Nobody heard what I had said because they were too busy arguing and pushing one another.
"Enough! Quiet! All of you!" Thorin yelled, silencing the group. "We're being watched." I started climbing a tree that was close by, focused on getting to the top. It was a long climb to the top, but when I finally made it to the top and stuck my head out past the bushes, I breathed a sigh of relief. Closing my eyes, the wind brushed against my face, clearing my head. When I opened my eyes again, I saw a bunch of blue butterflies flying off from the leaves. I looked at them, smiling in amazement.
"I can see a lake! And a river. And the Lonely Mountain. We're almost there!" I yelled, taking in my surroundings. "Can you hear me? I know which way to go!" The only response I got was of branches snapping. "Hello?" The sound of branches snapping continued and not too far away, I could see the trees moving. The movement got closer and closer, while the snapping got louder. Something was coming. I slowly lowered myself back into the leaves, looking for whatever was coming. My foot got caught in a web and I started falling forward off the branch. I screamed as I fell past branches and through spider webs, finally grabbing onto a branch. I hung there for a moment, but something didn't feel right. A giant spider slowly came out from behind a web and my eyes widened. It lunged at me and I screamed, letting go of the branch that was holding me up. I landed in something bouncy and when I took in my surroundings, I saw that I had landed in a giant web and when I tried moving, I found that I couldn't. I was stuck. I watched as the giant spider came running towards me, rolling me up inside the web as I screamed. The light started to fade as thoughts of my death ran through my head. This was how I was going to die. I couldn't believe I was going to be spider food.
Author's Note:
Okay, so I'm not exactly a fan of this chapter. I don't like the scene with the spiders anyway, but writing this one was kind of boring.
I OWN NOTHING BUT MY CHARACTER!!
