It was the rising sun slapping Chase's eyelids that woke him up from his shock induced sleep comma. As he woke up his body buzzed from the long rest he had, and even though his body felt like it was made out of a trillion buzzing bees it wasn't long till he realized that he was not home. Instead he laid in one of the beds for his patients in his office.
He slowly got up, each limb groaning by crack as he did. As soft but prevalent thumps made their appearance alongside the recovery boys dragging feet as they walked over to his desk. Checking the clock, Chase realized he had no time to run home and wash himself. So he settled for his personal finger comb and tried his best to make his hair look not too disheveled.
Along with a digital kitty themed clock he had on his desk there was a red post it note reading an apology. Sorry I didnt know where you lived so I thought this bed would work. The note sounded as endearing as an old man saying "well I mean I guess you like nice in that color". Not completely rude but definitely doesn't give you butterflies. What irked him more was the lack of nickname usage in this note, it almost felt as if Aizawa wrote it.
Obviously this wasn't the case given he did remember a certain pair of red wings riding him into the sunset before he fell asleep, however he had no recollection of their conversation. Did he say something to Hawks to upset him? As much as Chase wanted to dissect every inch of this puzzle he had no time to studying intruding ants on a picnic date. Instead he had to focus his time on fully waking up and getting his room ready for injured students.
---
School had started awhile ago now, and Chase had received not a single text from the Bird Teacher. He felt like a cheerleader waiting and pining from a text from his uninterested quarterback. Yet he still waited and anticipated for that 'Hey Babybird' or even 'hi kid' text. Lida with a sprained ankle arrived, but not one of those messages came. No messages in general hit Chase's phone.
He tried his best to ignore the pinging feeling in his stomach and told himself that he will go to Hawk's class during lunch and everything will be the same again. He was overreacting that's all. The recovery boy ended up burying a cave of work around his thoughts to make lunch come around quicker.
Once that bell finally rung Chase practically beamed with his lunchbox in hand as he waltzed to see a Hawks that he ensured himself was not acting funny. Yet when he finally reached that assumed nirvana, all he saw was an empty class. His heart sank as he contemplated his next move of denial. Maybe Hawks went to his room instead, they did tend to walk tp Hawks's class together some lunches. Even though the logistics where fatal given the two would've bumped into one another, he still rushed to his nursing room hoping to see a confused winged blondie looking for Nurse Day.
But at last the anticipation of a hopeful twist was met with reality, as he walked to his office and saw no sign of a bird quirked human. He starred at the door as his brain tried to make a fabricated excuse for Hawks. Yet the soaring from stretching so hard gave him a headache and he decided to sit down. He left his door open though incase Hawks rushed in upset that he abandon his healing man.
Sitting in his desk he let his fork twirl in a tutu of salad, as he heard the occusional footstep pass by. He texted Hawks a little while ago asking where he was, and to that he got nothing. As he cherry tomato was tucked in a spinach blanket by his fork, he heard footsteps walk pass his room, stop, and then come back. Looking up he hoped to see red wings on a cocky bird, but instead he saw a gray scarf on a puzzled eraser staring at him not saying a word.
"Hey Shouta" the greeting caused the eraser to get out of his chess game trance. Now analyzing his voice and trying to get clues on what has brought the chippy nurse down. It didn't take turtle walking speed for him to come to conclusion that it was Hawks doing. Yet he knew he had to be civil about it just in case his hypothesis was not a theory.
"Hi Recovery Boy. Im shocked to see you here, dont you usually eat with Hawks in his room?" Even though he couldn't directly bash Hawks and ask what the hell did that bird shit do now, he could dance around the subject to hopefully enchant the newly gloomy nurse to trash talk the fella. Yet he knew Chase and knew that he was the type to excuse others out of his empathy. So it wasnt shocking when he made an excuse for the bird.
"Oh yeah I do but I think he was busy today" Chase tried his best to give Aizawa his usual healing smile but instead it just ended with Aizawa having a phone ping in his chest that he didnt know who the sender was. As much as he wanted to keep asking the recovery boy until he finally said what Hawks did to him, he knew he wouldnt be able to handle the excuses at the moment.
"Well it's good I caught you. There's something Ive been meaning to talk to you about, a response Ive been meaning to say if you would like to put it." Aizawa finally showed himself in pointing at the chair that sat accross the Recovery boys desk, "may I?" which got a head nod from the confused boy.
"You see yesterday before you took flight into the obese, you said you wanted to be friends" When chase originally told him the longing for friendship for the erasing teacher, Aizawa really had no plans on elaborating on the nurses fantasies. Yet when he went home he started to be cocooned in insanity. Thinking about the recovery boy that sat across with with a now curious glance. All he thought about was how he to yearned for a bond with the newly immigrated nurse, how he wanted to talk about his life over coffee with this man, or listen to him ramble about something he couldnt give less of a shit about but still let him talk because he cared about the healer that was more than a acquainted colleague in this schizophrenic type illusion. He didnt know if this was friendship he seeked for, and out of fear of finding it being something more he decided to settle with the idea that this madness was captained by the needing of friendship. So he caved. "I would like you to know that I too would like to be friends someday, Chase".
PLEASE READ, hey guys I just wanted to say that if you live in America and you are elligable to vote please for the love of Aizawa vote and vote for Biden. I know that he sucks but as a gay man who has spent his entire childhood coping with the idea that at least one day I will be able to get married and have kids with the man of my dreams, the fear of all that being taken away from is terrifying. I know that's a bit political and Im sorry obviously vote for whoever you want but please consider Biden. Anyways I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter, and are doing alright. Drink water, eat something, and get some sleep!!!
