CHAPTER TWELVE:
BEST THING EVER.

IT'S HARD TO be a sinner when your father is a pastor but it's even harder to plan a date with a boy when your parents think you're straight.

It was sort of a hassle planning everything and keeping it on the low but Namjoon managed and soon enough, and Seokjin met at the location he texted for their date; Yoongi's house.

It was the best option. Yoongi was the designated driver and he got them both smuggled into the Halloween theme park. It was Halloween in a few days so Namjoon thought it would be a good idea to get them through a couple of creepy rides, haunted houses and jump scares and not just because he wanted Seokjin to cling to him (okay, maybe a little) but the theme park was way out of town so they could do whatever the hell they wanted and not get caught.

Yoongi dropped them off and promised to pick them up around seven so they basically had all of the time in the world. Namjoon paid for their tickets and subtly intertwined his hands with Seokjin's hands with his. They eyed all the rides and attractions.

"So, where to first?" Namjoon turned to his date, cocking his head to the side.

Seokjin's face crunched cutely as he thought deeply. "Uh, haunted house!"

Namjoon raised a brow. "You sure? You don't want to start somewhere small,"

Seokjin giggled and nudged his with their entwined hands. "What are you scared?"

Namjoon snorted, puffing out his chest and hitting it with his freehand. "I'm a man! I don't get scared," he joked.

Seokjin bursted out laughing. "You don't say. I guess this won't work out, then. I like my men with emotions,"

With wide eyes, Namjoon puckered his lips. "No, no! I'm scared. Much frightened, plenty afraid. Ahh! See?"

Seokjin only leaned forward and pecked his cheeks, whilst ruffling his hair. "Let's just go, you big goof!"

The haunted house wasn't all that bad. Well, not for Namjoon, anyway. He embraced all thing horror. Seokjin on the other hand, well. . . he was basically a dog with it's tail tucked between it's legs which was sort of a surprise since he was the one who wanted to go in in the first place.

Seokjin screamed so many times, some people in there began laughing at him and he felt embarrassed, burying his head in Namjoon's chest to which the younger boy simply pecked his lips and told him it was okay to be scared and he was there to protect him. It was a very uWu moment.

Then came the rides and that was something they both enjoyed. Namjoon was a fan of heights — always wanting to go hiking someday and Seokjin just loved the exhilaration and the feel of the wind in his face and hair. When they came down, laughing about the weird faces they kept, Namjoon told Seokjin of the time all their friends had come to this same theme park but for easter and they all had to go on the ride but Hoseok looked like he was about to flat line if he ever went on that thing.

Eventually, they coaxed him into going and it was the best thing ever because he was terrified and nothing Yoongi or Jimin did could help him, and he looked so lost and traumatised when they'd come down. His face was even captured on the picture screen and it was the best thing ever.

The day was full of laughter and general happiness. He and seokjin were having the best time ever. The smiles never once left their faces.

Eventually, they got hungry and they visited the food stand but beforehand, Namjoon had won Seokjin a fluffy, cute, pumpkin head pillow at the mini games stand, to which the older boy cuddled the stuffed toy to his side, never once letting it out of his sight. It warmed Namjoon's heart considerably.

As they ate hotdogs on a stick and talked about just anything in general, Seokjin's eyes landed on one last attraction they hadn't tried. The haunted maze. He nudged Namjoon and gestured to the place, making the younger boy quickly finish his food, dust his hands and slip their hands together again.

They leisurely walked towards the maze, Seokjin getting more excited by the second. He'd always loved solving puzzles and mysteries. Those were always fun. They were handed two glow sticks for emergencies which Namjoon pocketed. As they made their way inside, hand in hand and Seokjin clutching a stuffed toy, Namjoon checked the time on his phone. It was a few minutes past six. Their day was slowly drawing to a close.

He had Seokjin lean in so they could take a couple other selfies — they took pictures in every attraction they visited. There weren't a lot of people doing the haunted maze so it was sort of quiet as they walked around and tried to find their way out (if they couldn't, they would simply signal for a guard with one of the glow sticks they were handed to come and fetch them).

They made their way to the centre and stood in the middle of a clearing. Namjoon glanced at the skies above their heads and back at Seokjin. He fetched his phone and checked the time. Seven on the dot.

"So," he began nervously, "I — uh, we had a deal, right? About the end of the date."

Seokjin smiled, lips capturing his lower lips. "I remember,"

"I guess it's all up to you now, right. If you enjoyed today- did you enjoy today?"

Seokjin pressed his lips together. "Hm. I don't know,"

Namjoon visibly deflated. "Oh, uh, well that's. . ." he stuttered, trailing off.

Seokjin bursted out laughing. "Joonie, you dummy! Of course I enjoyed today, it was one of the best experiences in my life,"

Namjoon's eyes widened, "Wait does that mean-"

"Yes, I'll be your boyfriend, doofus!"

"Holy shit, okay. Yes! Fuck yes! Wow, Jinnie hyung I-"

Seokjin didn't let him finish, instead pulling him in for a sensual, slow paced kiss. Their first kiss as a couple. Namjoon melted into the kiss, kissing back with just as much force, letting everything he felt out. He felt fireworks erupt all over his body as they slowly pulled away.

"I'm yours," Seokjin smiled, pecking Namjoon's lips softly, "And you're mine,"

"Best thing that happened to 2018," Namjoon joked.

And they walked hand in hand, boyfriend and boyfriend, completing the rest of the maze, just grateful to be with each other. It's been a long time coming, honestly.

Best thing that happened to 2018. Where is the lie?
