"If I find myself desires which nothing in this world can satisfy, the only logical explanation is that I was made for another world." ~ C.S. Lewis
Chapter 11
It feels like eternity those few seconds, dragging on forever. My heart beating so fast in my chest, it might just rip itself free of my chest. The movement on the roof of the Camaro stops. Everything becomes eerily quiet, me and Theo look at each other.
Suddenly the doors are opened and a group of four men surround the car. They are large and menacing to look at. The pair closest to us grab both me and Theo by the arms and throw us out of the car.
I roll onto my back, blood trickling down my forearms from grazing.
“Get up!” The man growls. I climb to my feet and look at Theo across the roof of the Camaro. He has blood spilling out of his nose, that he’s pinching the bridge off.
“What do you want?” I ask, the mens mouths all up turn into horrible grins. There’s a weird smell coming from the men. The hell hound walks around the back of the Camaro. Bile rises in my throat as I stare at the beast. That is an actually walking corpse. Skin was barely holding onto the beast, his rotting muscles and bones on full view.
“We found the Noir brother who keep sticking their noses into our business.” One of the men says. “The big man has a price on your head Lucca. Helping a human girl, rumour is your like a lost puppy, following her around.”
I stare at the men with hatred. They aren’t demons, but fallen angels. Every last one of them. “Are you mad that a demon is nicer than you?” I ask, with a slight growl.
“I’m sure it’s just her soul that you are after, demons don’t feel, they never have.” Another one of the angels states. “You don’t care about her. She’s nothing to you, nothing more than another human, in the race against good and evil.”
“She’s just another human to you, yes.” I reply. “But you don’t have a clue about who I am, therefore I know what I care about, I know what I feel.”
“I wonder how she’d react to finding out you’re dead, she probably wouldn’t care.”
Suddenly, Theo bursts into movement. The angel closet to him goes down, his own sword thrust through his chest. Theo rips it back out.
The others are frozen in shock.
I follow my brothers lead, I remove a sword from the angel closest to me, the sword seeming to make my skin tingle and crawl. No sound happens as the sword pierces through the man’s chest, through his heart, preventing it from beating again.
The other pair disappear, the Camaro roars to life, along with the earth rumbling growl of the hound.
The beast lets out a cry as I thrust the sword through its skull. “This is madness.” Theo mumbles, staring at me. “This place really has gone to the dogs.”

Every couple of moments, I look up looking for him out of habit, but of course he isn’t here. School for some odd reason felt very lonely without him here. I hadn’t expected this, I hadn’t realised how used I got to Lucca.
I eye the door, waiting for him to walk in to the study; it is anything but quiet or organised. Folders are sprawled out around the room. Bags lurk under tables, occasionally people will trip on them. As I write I miss the random origami animals, I miss Lucca’s warm body pressed against mine. I miss how no one will throw things around the room in case they hit Lucca.
He scares even the bravest of hearts.
Someone drops into Lucca’s chair and sighs. It’s such a typical Lucca aspect that I actually look up, hopeful to see Lucca. However, it is Ty. He runs a hand through his hair. “I swear Max is being such an A-hole. Seriously, he thinks cause he’s some big lad that everyone worships his ass!” Ty mutters.
Max is our year groups top dog, the only guy who ever stands up to Lucca. I admire how brave he is, but Lucca doesn’t have much patience with people like Max.
“I’d love to be Lucca, not having to take shit from people.” He continues.
“Lucca keeps people away from him, he has a coldness to him that keeps people away.” I reply.
“Not everyone.” Ty opens a folder. “He clearly adores you, he’s always with you, even when you’re mad at him.”
I look down at my horrible writing that is sprawled across the lined page. The truth is, I know Lucca is constantly there, like a shadow. As of now I feel like I’m missing a crucial piece of myself that has become lost and forgotten.
I’ve wondered several times, if that’s what it’s like to be in a covenant or is that just Luc?
My phone beeps from it’s place in my pocket.
Lucca: Found him, they got here first.
I read the text quickly and put it back. It beeps again.
Lucca: I’m glad you didn’t come today. We got into a bit of trouble.
Me: We?
Lucca: Have you not noticed Theo has been missing from school? I think you would have noticed that?
Now that Lucca says that I have somehow missed that Theo wasn’t walking around with his usual pack of girls following him.
Me: I was missing you so much; I forgot to think of your evil double.
Lucca: J
I suddenly feel the weight of someone resting their arms on my shoulders. I don’t need to look around. His arms wrap around me, warm and protecting. “I missed you too, Cas.” He mumbles into my hair.
A/N: Thats the end of chapter 11. I know its not the best chapter in the world, but I hope y'all enjoyed it anyway. ~ Mia
