"I know what it feels like to be an empty cup, to have everything taken away from you. But you're not alone. However much magic you need to use, it's okay. We've got you. We're your family."
-Rick Riordan, The Sword of Summer
Chloe POV
Chloe,
We received your last letter and are delighted to hear that you have made a new friend. Harry says there is nothing he can tell you about the person who killed Amira's father seeing as it is confidential. He also says you must stop looking into this devastating subject as it will just cause Amira much pain if she discovers who killed her father.
Love,
Seamus and Dean
What was going on? Her dads had never told her to stop being curious. They had helped her find out who her parents were and Harry almost always would tell her dads something if they asked him about a dark witch or wizard. There was no way this letter was going to stop Chloe from trying to find out who killed Amira's father, this was going to make her look harder.
Chloe assumed Amira would go to the Room of Requirement when she finished dinner so Chloe decided to meet Amira there.
She grabbed her notes with other information they had on Amira's father, slipped on shoes, and left the common room. When Chloe got to the corridor where the Room of Requirement was she walked back and forth in front of the entrance while reading the letter from her dads again. The third time she was walking past the door she walked right into someone and dropped all her papers. It was Julián.
Chloe immediately fell to her knees and tried to grab all the papers before Julián saw because Amira hadn't told Julián about what they were doing yet. She was too slow.
"What we know about... who killed Amira's dad? Chloe, what is this?" Julián demanded.
"It's... I..." Chloe stammered.
"We're trying to find out who killed my dad Julián," Amira said, coming up behind them.
Julián looked hurt and it took Chloe to realize why. Amira hadn't included him, but she had told Chloe who she had met only a few weeks ago.
"I was going to tell you Julián, I really was. I just was looking for the right time and-"
"It's fine," Julián said and Chloe could tell he meant it.
"Really?" Amra said.
"Yes," Julián said. "I can see that you were going to tell me, and you can't be expected to tell me everything all the time. We aren't little kids anymore."
Amira looked immensely relieved. She gave Julián a quick hug. "Thank you," she said. "Come on, we can show you the progress we have made so far, which is about zero."
Chloe, who had shrunk back trying to blend in with the wall during the whole ordeal came forwards. "That actually is correct, but I do have something to show you guys."
Once the trio was in the Room Amira started explaining what the room did. The two girls had uncovered absolutely nothing by looking through the books, so now Chloe's letter telling them to give up was their best clue.
"So you're saying Harry Potter usually isn't this serious about not giving away information?" Julián asked when he and Amira had read the letter. Amira was staring at her hands, probably thinking about the second part of the letter: It would hurt Amira to find out who it was.
