"It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart."
― Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

Amira

Amira was in the Room of Requirement again. Exactly nothing had changed since the last time she had been there. She still had no leads as to who killed her dad.

The New Year's Eve party had been a welcome distraction but Amira still wanted to know who had killed her dad, she wanted to know with every ounce of her being. The party had only been a distraction from the renewed pain. Amira didn't plan on giving up. Not now, not ever. She walked over to the bookshelf and started scanning for her dad's last name.

Amira had been looking for only a fraction of a minute when someone came through the door. "Want any help?" It was Chloe.

"Chloe?" Amira asked.

"Don't kill me," Chloe said raising her hands. "I followed you here."

Amira wasn't mad in the slightest. "Why?"

"I'm not sure. I didn't know where you were going but something in me said I should follow you. This is the Room of Requirement, isn't it? And the picture of the man on the pegboard is your dad."

"Yeah."

"So do you want some help?"

The corner of Amira's mouth twitched upwards. "Definitely."

-----

The two girls spent hours looking through all the books provided by the Room of Requirement but learned nothing. Amira didn't feel dejected though. She and Chloe had actually had fun looking through the wizarding genealogy books. Amira said they reminded her of yearbooks.

Soon it was time for school to start again which meant it was time for the rest of the Hogwarts students to go back to school. Though she wouldn't admit it to anyone, Amira was a little nervous to be meeting the rest of the students. She had gotten used to the small group of people that were staying over winter break.

The day that the rest of the kids were coming back to Hogwarts Amira was standing in the Great Hall talking to Chloe before dinner. Chloe has been giving Amira the rundown on some of the kids that Amira hadn't met yet. Apparently, Will Gray was the best quidditch player on the Gryffindor team, Dominique Weasley was super sweet and really pretty, and their other roommates were named Makayla, Melinda, and Cadence. " Makayla is nice, and Melinda and Cadence are... well I don't think they've ever liked me very much." Chloe finished.

"Do you know why?"

"I'm not exactly sure, but I think it's because of my-" Chloe cut off abruptly.

"Evening ladies," said a voice next to Amira. It was a boy with messy black hair and light brown eyes. He was admittedly good looking, though Amira thought the smirk on his face ruined it. Fred was standing next to him wearing an impish grin.

"Hi James," Chloe said, and Amira was surprised to hear she spoke to James completely differently than the way she spoke to Fred. Without the annoyance, Amira thought, and something else that Amira couldn't quite put her finger on.

"And what might your name be, beautiful?" James asked. Amira went tense all over and froze. The last person who had flirted with her like that had gone out of his way to make Amira's life miserable. She wouldn't let anyone do that to her again.

Amira forced herself to remember how to breathe. "I'm Amira Prayoga," she said coldly, crossing her arms. James blinked in surprise and took a step away from her.
