Riya P.O.V

Looking around I could tell that thus far the Masquerade was a sucess. Well, other than the druken pack member that had spiked the punch and the fight that had broken out between two were-girls. Of course, that was completely normal.

Sigh. Why couldn't anything out of the norm happen right now? You know- kinda like my mate magically opening that door and proposing to me right then and there. That would be great. Now that I really think about it, I would really like my mate to be a romantic cliche person. Like a sweep-me-off-my-feet-and-kiss-me type of person.

Looking around the room it was the perfect setting for a fairy tale meeting. With swashes of white and black material draped here and there, I felt like I could just swoon. I might seem like a rough and tough girl on the outside who can deal with anything but really, I am a really sensitive person who just wants to be happy.

Anyways, the pack house was a perfect settting for the masquerade. I got bumped from my thoughts as yet another guy dressed up in a Phantom of the Opera styled mask was drunkely stumbling around. Ugh, what kind of girl like me could ever like guys? Wait.... what.....

"Rrrrrriya!" Steven slurred and fell on me from behind.

"Ooph.. Steven seriously?" I grunted as I supported his full body weight. A typical guy, getting drunk and acting like a total idiot. Girls were better.... Wait... what? "Look Steven let's get you to your room you are in no condition to do anything right now."

"Sttill searching for a mate?" He roared with laughter now, "You shoulda juust been mate with me- no one wannas mate with youuu stupid weregirll."

W.....T......F......"Steven!" I slapped hard on his right cheek and he staggered backwards, and fell. Serves him right. Since we were werewolves, alcohol gets out of our system pretty quickly, so the fact he was still drunk right now must have been because he had drunken a lot of it. He should be coming to pretty quick but right now I didn't really care. If I was ever to find my mate it would be today. And no drunken friend of mine was going to stop me.

He whimpered from where he lay and although I pitied him slightly I didn't want to stop my search. I felt like a total jerk since it was obvious he had feelings for me, but nothing good take away from the hurt that was caused by what he had just said to me. It hurt for a second but I wouldn't let it discourage me on my little adventure to find my mate.

So I marched through the throng of our pack members searching, more relying on the "mate sense" that was supposed to kick in if you ever got near to your mate. So far, nada. Nothing.

Then, as I passed the little drink bar they had set up I felt a slight tingle in my hand that slowly crawled its way to my head. And that was when I smelled the most delicious scent.

Picture your favorite food, combined with your favorite perfume and then multiply by ten thousand. That was literally how good it smelled and I was pratically drooling at the scent. The scent of my mate.

The scent was still faint, but the slight smell it had was teasing me and I just wanted to follow it straight to the source. Another guys stumbled in front of me before fainting and I almost tripped over his body. What was a girl to do? I mean, since I prefer girls and all... Wait- Wait- Slow down Riya. Rewind. I prefer girls?!?! What?!?! I shook my head to clear away the cobwebs and followed the scent. To the entrance. There was no way I could leave the premesis without looking suspicious so I had to wait by the doors.

As the seconds; feeling like hours, ticked by I whimpered slightly. Was my mate coming? Would my mate like me? No, that was a stupid question. A mate was like a fantasy partner so there was no doubt in my mind that my mate would totally accept me. I felt my eyelids grow heavy and without my knowing a sunk into a nap.

Vixen P.O.V

As Kendra was grabbing stuff out of her car, I stood leaning on a column by the entrance of the main pack house of Tribe Roaring Moon. They thought they could show off with their pack house. What simpletons. What idiots.

What I would give to duke it out with anyone. Then I remebered that Kendra had brought me and I couldn't exactly start something in front of her. Dang it.

"Come on Kendra hurry up!" If I couldn't do anything to this stupid "all powerful" pack then I wanted to get it over and leave so I could focus on more important things. Like keeping my pack afloat.

I glanced at the mask that matched my dress and decided to put it on. That way, if anyone saw me I would blend right in. Stupid self-righteous, big-pack, Tribe Roaring Moon. I hated all of them, and if it weren't for Kendra I could be in my warm shack. Great. Jussssst great.

        "Kendra?"

"Girl I'm coming, I'm coming just hold up a sec." She was digging around in her trunk for something. How long did it take to find something in her trunk?

And then I recognized the same scent I had smelled on that napkin. I turned my head and sniffed and the scent got stronger. My wolf was struggling to get out so it could run full speed at the scent. It wanted to mark whoever was behind the scent as it's. And I had to stay still at all costs. Mates were a waste of time, and a weakness. I already had a lot on my plate, and I didn't need a needy guy to waste my time with. If I wanted to have little were-wolves that were depending on me all of the time I had Nina for that so why would I want any more? What a complete time-waster. I would never accept any mate, even if they begged me. Or so I thought.

"Can we just call the whole thing off?" I begged Kendra when the scent seemed to neither get stronger or weaker. As if my mate were behind those shaded doors waiting for me to walk through them. "I am feeling tired and I am sure Nina misses me." That was a low blow and I knew it.

"No, I spent a lot of money on that dress, so we are going through those doors and Par-tay-ing!" Kendra sashayed towards me, wearing a peacock themed dress and mask. "And besides I still have that hunch."

I was so focused on staying in that same spot and not breathing in that delectable scent I did not notice that she had taken hold of my arm. Then she dragged me foward and I was forced to take in a deep breath. Full of the scent of my mate.
