FLASHBACK~~~
It was five years since I met him... only bits and pieces of that memory remains-- He was a short stocky boy with eyes like fire. No one really knows how his eyes are red- but they are. Then he had sandy brown hair that curled slightly because of his youth. That little boy, now a man-- Evan. He smiled at me from across the room. I don't remember how, but we danced together at the tribe's party. Back then I didn't understand the rules so I thought it was okay for him to be there. I hadn't known he was Tribe Roaring Moon; but Jack soon found him out and he was sent away. He looked back once as he was roughly escorted out by two of my pack members. I never thought I would see him again.
END FLASHBACK~~~
Heh. Little did I know. I slowly shook my head at myself, I couldn't believe that Jack, my Alpha, my father, would do something like this to me! How was I ever going to find my mate? Lord knows I had already looked a lot, but now I had a time limit?!? I felt my confidence of last night wash away as I ate my breakfast cereal.
"Why so glum Hon?" my mom Susan walked into the kitchen.
"You know why mom... no use pretending." I stared at my cereal as if it were the most interesting thing in the world.
"This marriage is just the thing we need for the tribe. Honey, just because Evan is in a rival pack doesn't mean he's a bad person. In fact, he's a sweet caring young boy that I used to hold when he was a baby. Besides, maybe your real mate would turn out to be some pervert."
"Or it could turn out to be the most amazing person in the world." I snapped dryly.
"We just want what is best for you."
"No- you want what is best for the pack..." I stomped off not wanting to upset her but feeling upset myself.
I could tell that today was going to be a great day. Le Sigh.
I felt like burying myself back underneath my warm covers until this would go away. Unfortunately, that never works and I still had training to do.
If there was one good thing about my pack it was that they believed in giving both boys and girls alike proper training. I had learned how some more advanced defensive blocks yesterday so maybe today would be offensive training. If only they would train you how to win an argument. Which brings me right back to the issue of mating with Evan...... Sigh.
"Glad you could join us. Glad to see that your royal highness isn't to high to come to training on time." Jennie our trainer remarked wryly. I grimaced.
"You know I didn't choose to be born Jennie, it's not my fault my dad is Alpha." For some ungodly reason Jennie had the biggest grudge against me.
"That's fine, I accept your apology." What the frick? I hadn't apologized. Steven snickered. I glared at him and he stopped. Sometimes, he was a pain in the butt. "Now take ten laps right now."
"W-What? But why?"
"Because I said so. Now get your butt moving or I'm adding laps."
With a growl I shifted so I could be faster and started running the ten laps. She didn't say I couldn't shift so it was fair game.
"HEY!" She yelled but I was too far around the training clearing to hear hear and her words died away. As I rounded the border I saw that everyone else had shifted as well. Looked as if we were doing some one-on-one training today. The only unfortunate part was now I could hear everyone again.
Get back here Riya, screw the laps. Jennie's words were a snarl in my mind. Now that they were too easy for me she didn't want me to do them. Served her right.
Heh. Wow. ... A bunch of the wolves were talking to one another and they all formed one big blob.
However, my mind was not on that at all. Nope. I had such a one track mind. And that track was all about how to get out of mating Evan.
Ergh.. I really really really really don't want to mate Evan. Everyone else fell silent. Only Steven spoke, and he sounded really angry.
You don't have to mate Evan if you don't want to.. Screw the pack. Can't they see that you don't want to mate him?!?!?! God!!!!!
Steven started pacing, his shaggy, reddish-grey hair blew with the wind. He whimpered slightly, angry. If only I could tell him everything would be okay. I just had to find a mate.
Steven please calm down, Riya isn't worth it.
Excuse me?!?! Sounds like Jennie is jealous, I always felt like Jennie kind of liked Steven although Jennie was five years older then him. Also a total witch, but let's not talk about that.
Calm down? You expect me to calm down? Steven howled and reared up angry. And what do you mean Riya isn't worth it? Riya is one of the best girl werewolves I know, and anyone who speaks out against her has me to answer to. Steven snapped his jaws at Jennie, and she backed up, scared.
I tried to calm Steven down before he said something he probably regretted. Steven it's okay really. I don't mind.
NO! IT'S NOT OKAY! ALRIGHT? IT'S NOT OKAY! Steven raced off into the forest with Jennie hot on his heels.
Steven wait! Please don't run away from me.
LEAVE ME ALONE!
So much for calming him down.
Poor Jennie. Little did she know that she had no competition from me. If she wanted to mate Steven she was welcome to it. I used to have a crush on him, but honestly all I felt for him right now was friendship. I would have to tell him that... and I really wasn't relishing the thought.
Wait a tick... she had said I wasn't worth it. You know what, I hope that she never finds her mate. Speaking of mates.....
Somehow, Some way I had to find my mate because if one thing for certain it would be that I would never, ever mate Evan.
