The hardest thing to do was leave after being with him. Standing in his bakery, I never wanted to leave. I could've stayed there for hours listening to him talk about the different components of pastries. Sitting on the balcony, I could've done crossword puzzles in silence for all of eternity.

I felt comfortable with him. I liked being with him. I think he felt the same way about being with me, because one day, my cafe was stormed. There was a huge increase in people, and I wasn't sure why, but this meant I couldn't leave for my daily bakery excursion.

I was in the midst of serving some customers when I saw him enter with a croissant on a place, covered by plastic wrap. The plastic wrap was foggy so I could only assume it was fresh baked.

When it was his turn in line, he ordered his usual coffee, placing the croissant down on the counter for me.

  A raindrop hits the water.

"I didn't see you, so I figured I'd bring your baked food to you," he smiled as I handed him his coffee.

  It causes a ripple.

"Well, we can't have our daily streak of seeing each other broken, now can we?"
