I lived in an apartment situated above the coffee shop I worked at. It was a small studio apartment, but it was enough for one person. It had a little balcony that allowed me to see the alleyway below. I never went out on it much unless I was bored.

One day after a long day at work, I decided to sit out on my balcony, finishing a crossword puzzle that I'd failed to finish during the work day.

I wasn't expecting to hear a voice from beside me.

A raindrop hits the water.

"(Y/N)? I wasn't expecting to see you here."

I looked up from my half finished crossword puzzle and was met with Soobin on a balcony a few feet away from mine. His bakery must've had a studio apartment in it as well.

"Soobin? What a coincidence," I chuckled awkwardly.

"It seems like we're fated to meet," he smiled, his dimples making a welcomed appearance.

Fated.

Fate really meant nothing to me prior. I felt like I had control over every outcome in my life, but at this time, I'd started to believe that something was pushing me and Soobin together and that something was fate.

"It seems so," I giggled, giving him a tight lipped smile, looking back down to my crossword puzzle.

We sat on our balconies in peace as I stared at my unfinished crossword, the single unsatisfying empty line staring back at me. I decided I couldn't handle staring at the paper any longer.

"Hey Soobin?" I asked, looking over to him. He was engrossed in his own book. His head moved to my position, but his eyes stayed glued to the page.

  "Hmm?" He hummed.

"What's a five letter word for a food that's also money?" I asked him, twiddling my pencil in my fingers. "The last letter is an H."

"Easy," he smiled, his eyes finally moving up from his book. "Dough."

  It causes a ripple.

I thanked him for his gracious answer and we settled into silence once again, him reading his book, me continuing on to my next crossword puzzle.

This became a nightly tradition after we finished work. Us sitting in a comfortable silence on our balconies, him occasionally helping me find a word in my crossword puzzle.
