"Leyla!" the all too familiar voice yelled.
"I know you're in there! Can you please open up! I forgot my keys." she paused "I promise I won't get mad at you!"
I opened the door. As she entered our small apartment I went straight into my bedroom. I was exhausted.
I heard footsteps behind me and a gasp. I know very well what she was going to say.
"Leyla!!!" She yelled my name for the second time today. "Look at all this mess!"
I just rolled my eyes in return "This is my room. Why don't you go to your extremely clean room and clean something. I'm sure I saw a little dust in a corner somewhere. Why don't you clean it up?"
She started to panic "What? Dust? Where?"
She went out of my bedroom and into hers. That always worked I thought as I smiled to myself in the bathroom mirror. Don't get me wrong I'm not always this vain. It has just been an exhausting day.
I brushed my teeth and removed my minimal makeup. Then, I started to change into my pyjamas and as I lay on my bed I started to recall back on what happened this evening. I witnessed a murder. I mean this is a one in a lifetime experience. You usually only see this on television.
But what if someday he's going to hunt me down because I witnessed that person killed a man. He could be an innocent man or it could also be the opposite where the man who killed was actually a nice man. But, no nice man would kill another man. I mean if you killed someone you're still considered as a murderer.
I woke up by my alarm clock which is extremely annoying, if you ask me. Somehow last night I drifted off while thinking about the situation about the homicide. I should seriously stop thinking about it before I go crazy.
As I was getting dressed and returning back to reality, which consists of serving food to people who come to my work place to eat and yes you guessed it I'm a waitress. Reality sucks, doesn't it? Especially if you're poor.
As I walked inside the restaurant that I work at called Toby's I went into staff changing room and changed into my uniform. Toby's is known for its fine dining cuisine. People usually come here for business and at night they always come for a date.
I've always looked at them with so much jealousy. I would trade anything for a day in a life of a rich person. I would even trade it for my best friend as evil as that sounds but I would. I know you'll say that I'm obsessed with all the snobby people but it's just that they always get what they want even if its not theirs to begin with.
As night appeared and my shift was going to end soon, I was happy to call it a day.
As I was clearing one of the tables, I caught a glimpse of a familiar face in one of the booth with a brunette girl opposite of him. My first thought was, who is that woman with him? His girlfriend? His lover?
As I stood there staring at him, his gorgeous blue eyes locked in my plain brown eyes, I widened my eyes as I realized that he was looking at me. He was looking at me like he was trying to read me.
"Leyla! What do you think you're doing?" my manager called.
"I-I was clea-" I started before I was interrupted "We need help in the kitchen." and she walked away.
When the table was cleared I looked at the brown eyed man for the last time before making my way to the kitchen.
I was finally done for the day and I was heading to the subway station to go back home when someone grabbed my wrist.
I wanted to scream but as soon as I saw the person that had grabbed my wrist I didn't. What is with him and grabbing my wrist? Can't he just call me like how others would do?
"Can I help you with something?" I asked. I just wanted to end this day and sleep on my bed and plus I was tired. A day of serving people food would obviously exhaust you.
"You're walking to your apartment?" he asked worriedly.
"No, I'm going to take the subway." I replied nonchalantly.
"Let me take you home."
"No! It's fine. I'm capable of taking myself back home."
"I won't let you. It's very dangerous for a woman like you to be walking alone during the night!" He said proving his point.
"Look, I have done this a million times you have nothing to worry about."
He shook his head and grabbed my wrist towards his car. I tried to free myself out of his hand but it wouldn't budge.
He opened the passenger door and gestured me to get in. I know that I wouldn't let me go so I gave in sitting on the passenger seat and strapped the seat belt.
"You know, we didn't exactly exchanged our names." he stated.
"I realized that."
"I'm Liam." He looked at me and I realized that he was waiting for me to tell him my name.
"I'm Leyla."
"Leyla..cute name." I blushed when he said the last sentence.
"Leyla, I was wondering if you're doing anything tomorrow?" Hold on for a second, is he asking what I think he's asking? Is he asking me out on a date? But we just met.
"Earth to Leyla!! Hello?? Are you there?" I realized that I was deep in thoughts.
"It's your lucky day. I have a day off tomorrow." I didn't know why I said that. What if he wasn't taking me out on date?
"Great, I will pick you up tomorrow at noon." he smiled. Gosh, he has the most gorgeous smile ever.
"Okay, I'll see you tomorrow, bye." I opened the door and waved. He looked at me one last time before speeding off into the New York traffic.
I unlocked the door and noticed that Amelia wasn't home yet. Great, or she would ask me a lot of questions which I am too tired for.
I walked straight into my bedroom and changed into my pyjamas. I snuggled under my blanket and let sleep take over me.
