Maria's POV
I faced the window with my phone to get a sun-kissed selfie, and I noticed Mathias passing by. He pushed Rena in her stroller while taking a walk with Anita, whose hand was also on Rena's ride. They looked adorable, like a married teenage couple with a child.
"Mel," I looked to the floor where she laid on my furry rug, painting the shapes in her school workbook, "Rena is outside."
She hurried to my bed and I helped her up. She loved seeing Rena.
"Rena!" She yelled through my window, taking me off guard, and I went down immediately with a short laugh.
"Melissa!" I heard Mathias voice that came with a chuckle. Mel waved with opened teeth, and I was certain she got a wave from the couple.
"Tell Maria I say hi!"
"She's here!" Mel called me out in her innocence, and I cringed while showing my face.
"Peeking at us, huh?" Mathias said. They both stood looking in my direction.
"Hey!" I greeted them with a laugh. "You all look cute together," I said and Anita blushed.
"Get lost!" Mathias yelled playfully, and they continued their walk.
I turned to Mel. "I said see Rena, not call their attention." I laughed. She put a hand over her mouth, and then she laughed also, seeing that I found it funny.
Mathias' POV
"Aw, she's asleep already." Mum picked Rena out of her stroller and wrapped her in her arms with the white cotton blanket. I took the stroller in and locked the door.
"How's my little angel?" Dad peeked through her blanket.
Mum smiled. "I'll put her in bed." She proceeded to the corridor with Rena, and I rolled the stroller behind her.
"What time is your game?" Dad stopped me.
"You're coming?" I asked, surprised, because he got an emergency call at work.
He smiled. "I want to watch you play."
My happiness when he said that didn't last. I cringed. "Uh, actually... I'm the goal keeper." I confessed, having a feeling he wouldn't be proud.
He chuckled as he moved closer to me. "That's an important role in the game, and I tell you what, goal keepers are underrated." He gave me a shoulder tap. "See you soon." He hurried out the door with his briefcase.
I stood on the spot, not believing what just happened. The joy I felt inside reflected on the outside and I found myself smiling. He wasn't the same man from yesterday, in the end, we both had the same scars.
Maria's POV
The friendly match event between the graduands and the incoming seniors was about to start. Crowd had gathered, and the sound of drums shook the field. Parents and guests occupied the bleachers that faced the students' bleachers, while the staffs and organizers occupied the bleachers on the right.
"All students, settle down. The games are about to start." The commentator announced through the speakers as most searched for a good spot to sit.
"Sorry, excuse us," Agnes said as she passed inbetween students that were already seated. We followed in a queue behind her, and then we occupied five empty chairs.
One set mate, a commercial student, lowered down to fill the seat next to Agnes. "Someone is here." Andrew stretched a hand across Agnes and dropped his bag on the seat. He left the poor boy embarrassed, and he went away in search for another chair.
