"Mia, you gon' be late for school" My mum cried out.
"Ready in a minute" I answered knowing she wouldn't stop calling if I don't answer. I tied my hair up in a neat bum, tucked my light pink singlet into my boyfriend jean, wore my denim jacket and carried my bag. 'Good to go' I thought with the face.
" Look whose gon' be late on her first day" mum said immediately i joined them in the dinning.
"Bad Omen"Jade says my elder brother
I peered at him
" You know what they say about going late on your first day, means you gon' be late through out the entire academic year" he added
" That's not true" I said chewing my loaf. Jade is so full of annoying stories and quack prophecies, he is very fun but always have a way of bringing in something weird and not called for in the middle of a conversation.
" Have fun today hun" Dad spoke for the first time since we started eating.
" Yes dear, follow the bus"mum added
"But I want to use my bike" I defended myself
"The bus honey, at least for today" she added sweetly.
"Sure" I said knowing I couldn't drag it.
"The first Bell is for everybody to go to their classes, the second is for music, the third is for.........."I cut him off
" I know Jade" holding his hands and smiling" thanks, I know and I'll do just fine" he smiled back.
"I'll drop her" Dad said cleaning his hands in the towel.
"Sure" mum said carrying the dishes to the sink "Be safe honey" she said and came back to hug me.
I said bye to Jade and mum and followed Dad to the car.
" I wonder how it's going to be today, a new school, new books, new teachers, new faces, new baseball court, new lunch, new everything. I wonder if people will like to talk to me. I just hope am able to adjust.
"This is it" Dad said as he pulled up in the school parking lot. It's quite bigger than i imagined.
"Thanks Daddy" i said smiling while i hugged him
"Bye" he said as I opened the door and walked out, he watched enter the main building before he drove off.
"This school better be nice" I muttered entering the hall.
