One Shot at Love

Chapter 4

I rubbed my neck with my left hand as I pull the door knob open with my right. "You getting ice cubes" i spoke underneath my breath, actually talking to my neck.
"Hey Honey" Mummy called out as sweet as always. I saw her dropping the tray she was holding, she removed her gloves and came close pulling me into a hug. I get this hug whenever i return home after my first day at school.
"Look whose in one piece"Jade said drawing on the wall not looking at us like I wasn't the one he was talking to.
"Stop it J" Mummy cautioned him
"Come, bring your bag"Mummy said collecting my bag, she hung it and started heading back to the kitchen.
"So honey, how'd your day go"Mummy asked arranging what looks like Sausage in the tray, couldn't tell from this view.
"Was good Mum"I answered walking towards Jade.
"You could have thought of something better Jade" I said to him when i noticed what he was drawing on the wall, Pizza, he should have really thought of something else but no doubts it looked really good, we have beautiful paintings every where in the house thanks to Jade.
"Your face isn't swollen" Jade said more like a statement than a question
"I wasn't bullied today, don't think i ever will be" I said confidently
Jade coughed
"Wow that's good Honey"Heard mummy yell it from the kitchen "Made new friends?"she yelled further
"Yes Mum, two nice friends" I said almost as a scream so she could hear it.
"Are they short??" Jade asked. Looks like someone wants to pick on me.
"Yes" I said hoping I win this battle "They are smart, they also wore pink and blue denims, they have lots of teddy bears and they hate their big brother" I said and Jade started laughing heavily.
"Do they have parents"Mummy asked
Huh, didn't prepare for this one, I wonder if they both had parents, especially Lucy, she could be staying with a wizard or a spell book, Cherry mentioned her mum.
"Uhh.. Not sure but they have Mum and truck"I said praying silently
"Mum and truck, what does that even mean"Mummy asked this time not yelling more like she was trying to figure it out.
To avoid any more question"I'll be in my room mum" I said pushing Jade walking upstairs
"Sure honey, go freshen up, your Dad's on his way and lunch will be out in about Five."
"Okay Mum"  I closed the door.

Up in Mia's room

um and i are really close. Daddy is quite distant so I spent most of my time with Mum. Never hid anything from her. She was almost like my sister and my best friend, she is always there when i needed to talk. She understands my inferiorities and insecurities and always have a way of pulling me together after any rough moment. Moments like when my best friend started hanging out with her best friends and started saying awful things about me, and moments I thought I found love. Saw a beautiful card in my locker on Valentine's day, I felt maybe it was from an admirer, I saw a dead dry lizard inside the card. It was literally the worst day of my life. High school was the worst. Once told mum I wouldn't let my children attend it
"Why'd you let me go there" I asked her once. I could remember the look on her face, it was pity. Mummy doesn't have a job, not that she didn't find any, told me she resigned so she could take proper care of me, but wasn't sure if she was honest about it. Sometimes i wonder why am short.  I am below average, even our refrigerator is taller than i am, I thought maybe when I turn 17 things would change but it's been months since then but there's no difference. Maybe when I stop being bullied, I might grow taller. Yes I'll grow taller in College.
