"Stay by me," Killa spoke softly as he pulled me closer to me. "Got some people I want you to meet,"We finally arrived at the function and as nervous as I was Killa continued to keep me company. He was the main man of the event so there were so many people coming up to us. I'm not used to the attention but he made sure I was comfortable, I was introduced to a number of people but I saw it as networking considering I wanted to venture off and become my own person. I didn't wanna be known as 'Killa's wife'.
I needed my own name and in a place like New York? I was gonna have to find something that made me stand out and set me apart from Killa. I never really had time to bring up my own business ideas to him and I think tonight would be the perfect time to bring that up to him. I had a strong passion for acting but I wasn't sure if I could handle the pressure that comes with it.
"Babe, this is Lewis King," Killa faced a shorter figure, he was fair-skinned and wore circle framed glasses. He was dressed in a gold and zebra printed dinner jacket. I wasn't aware of the brand but based off the fabric alone I knew this wasn't anything cheap. "Lewis, this is my soon to be wife Iris,"
"Wow, how beautiful," he smiled up at me and took my hand into his, raising it to his lips. "It's my pleasure,"
"Let's, not" Killa gave him the side-eye.
"Killa, you know I'm gay right? I don't want to steal your lady from you. She is rather beautiful though." He gave me a slight nod.
"Oh, I'm aware I just wanna keep things business professional. Not worried about you or anyone stealing her," he chuckled lightly. "But I wanted to introduce the two of you. Iris, this is the company's fashion designer, this is the man behind all the madness. He's a genius when it comes to clothing, a lot of our best sellers come from him."
"You can't give me all of the credit," he shook his hand, grabbing a martini from one of the waiter's trays. "It's your creative mind, I just bring it all to life,"
Killa just shook his head and proceeded to laugh, I saw him eyeing the martini. He glanced over to me and gave me a smirk. "Would you like a drink?"
"Yeah, I need something in my system" I rested my head on his arm.
"So, Miss Iris what is it that you do?" Lewis raised an eyebrow and dipped his olive into his drink before tossing it into my mouth.
"Well, I've been working under Killa for awhile, studying the business. There's so much to learn so I just been shadowing him for a few years," I nodded, of course it's only been a year that I've been working for him but he didn't need to know all of that. I had to make sure I had the same story for each person I talked to. I had to keep all of my ducks in a row in order to keep us from getting caught up. Neither one of us cared but with us being 'married' it was it's own business that I personally had to keep under wraps.
