No no no no no no...
Daybreak stared at the falling drops of water, willing them to cease, but they continued to fall harder and harder. Meanwhile, Gale and Downpour were acting like this was the greatest thing that ever happened. "Rain on the day of the arena fight!" crowed Gale. "What luck! No one's allowed to create a storm during a battle, of course, but a natural shower? I think this is a good sign."
Downpour and Gale think that this rain will give me special MistWing fighting powers. The same powers that every other dragon in the arena will have. Daybreak took a deep breath and tried to summon back her courage.
She stepped into the arena and took a look around. The spectator's area was grand and spacious -- it looked as if it was made out of pure diamond. Daybreak could also see a throne for the queen on a sliver balcony overlooking the arena. Around the arena floor were seven arches for the contestants to wait under, complete with their names inscribed in gold. Daybreak quickly flew to her own arch and took the opportunity to survey her competition.
First was a very young and energetic-looking silver dragon named...Silver. Next to Silver stood a large, muscular, firm-looking blue dragon named Cumulus. Beside Cumulus stood a gray-blue dragon with a calm appearance named Cloudburst. By then, Queen Monsoon had walked onto her balcony, so Daybreak quickly read the names of the other contestants -- Bluster, Precipitation, Storm, Zephyr, and Breeze.
"My loyal subjects!" announced the queen in her strong, commanding voice. "Thank you for gathering here in Haze Arena today! As you all know, I will be giving one of our lucky contestants the immense honor of becoming my personal bodyguard. Of course, only the strongest of them will succeed. I will personally announce all eliminations. Last dragon left after the eliminations wins, of course."
Daybreak looked up at Gale and Downpour. She turned her gaze to the dazzling sapphire on Queen Monsoon's crown. She looked at the other contestants in the arena.
"Claws up, tails ready!" the queen boomed. "Fight!"
