Daybreak desperately tried to escape, but Midnight was too strong. Midnight slowly inched her claws closer and closer to Daybreak's neck.

Suddenly, Downpour pushed Midnight away with his wings, and Daybreak watched in shock as he whacked Midnight with his tail. Midnight roared as Downpour's tail brushed past the bandage around her neck, revealing a jagged scar where Foliage had attacked her in the DarkWing caves.

Downpour took off into the air, motioning for Daybreak to follow. Daybreak followed him for hours until finally they landed somewhere in the Great Grassland.

"An Axen Darkwing," explained Downpour, both of them panting in exhaustion. "Able to shift their appearance. I learned about them in battle training -- but the instructor said that we would probably never encounter one." He sighed in defeat. "I don't know what we're going to do now. Out plan failed. That DarkWing is probably snatching the sapphire for herself right now. Whatever she's planning to do with it, it can't be good."

I have to tell him my secret, Daybreak realized. It's now or never. I can't disappoint Paradise and Foliage by failing my mission. She began to shift the color of her scales to yellow, then stopped abruptly. She had to face it. Daybreak was a DarkWing -- and it didn't matter at all. She was going to save the world regardless of the tribe she belonged to. Daybreak watched the shocked expression on Downpour's face as she shifted her color to a dark black.

"We haven't been properly introduced, Downpour," she said softly. "My name is Daybreak."
