So, in the light of Halloween, here is this -mostly- happy oneshot with implied extreme sadness because around this time of year, there's no escape!

The only way I managed to write mild 'angst' was with the help of @lovethepage ! Go check her new oneshot book out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's really good, and she writes more angst than I do, so it evens out. (Yes, it is Harry Potter. - Ron, act one scene two AVPM)

~3rd person POV, after Hogwarts, Wolfstar, Jily yeah you guys know at this point all canon and slowly falling apart from the pressure of a war~

It's fine just read-

"I'm calling the police." Lily finally turned, fed up from Sirius' constant nagging.

"The what?" Sirius shot Lily a confused look, halfway through taking down a streamer. Lily let out a long suffering sigh and shook her head.

"You know what, forget I said anythin-"

"HARRY NO!" James yelled from the other side of the yard. Lily whipped around, dropping the opposite end of the orange streamer and darted to James' side.

"Where is he?!" Lily half screamed, panicked. James scooped Harry up from where he was waddling on the floor next to Remus and cooed at him.

"You don't mean that!" James muttered to Harry, bouncing him in his arms. Remus smiled from the ground while Lily rubbed her forehead.

"I think he does." He said , gathering the toys Harry was playing with.

"What?" Peter asked, looking between them.

"Nothing!" James said too quickly. Remus grinned from where he was sitting.

"Harry said he likes dogs better than a stag-"

"ANYWAY" James interrupts, slapping his hand over Remus' mouth in an attempt to stop him, but the damage was done. Remus licked his hand to free himself while James pulled away, disgusted while everyone doubled over with laughter. James glared at his friends while they tried -and failed- to compose themselves. Sirius was cackling, leaning on Marlene to stay standing. Desperate, James turned to Peter for support.

"Peeeeeteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee" he whined, grabbing at Peter's arm.

Peter ducked away uncomfortably, clutching his left arm. James looked on, concerned, balancing Harry on his hip.

"Are . . . . .you okay?" James asked timidly.

"Yes. Yeah, yes I'm fine," Peter said, shaking his arm out and smiling awkwardly in an attempt to smooth over the moment.

"Alright. . . . " Lily said uncertainly.

"Half left." Remus cuts in. The tension breaks and everyone starts laughing again. Peter sends a half hearted smile of thanks his way, though Remus continues to watch Peter carefully.

"I'll watch Harry, Remus can you help Siri with the last couple streamers?" Lily held her arms out and Remus nodded, handing Harry over.

Remus accepted Sirius' hand up and made his way over to the remaining streamers, starting to reach for the tapes at the corners.

"Don't you think Wormtail has been a bit . . . off recently?" Sirius said, haphazardly fold a streamer into a box. Remus took it from him and refolded it neatly.

"I don't know," Remus said, choosing his words carefully. "Aren't we all, what with everything going on?" Sirius frowned.

"You know what I mean. He's not been talking to us, and always has somewhere to go when we try and schedule meet ups." Remus shrugged.

Sirius and Remus kept cleaning up the decorations, while James and Peter took away - ate- the leftover food. Lily watched Harry as the last couple guests left and it was just them.

And then, the events of Halloween, 1981.

Just- *sigh* I can't offer comfort, the angst is just inevitable.
