Scary Monsters: Chapter 2

3rd Person's POV:
"This is quite the surprise... I did not think there was a being on this world that would not know Halloween!" Lilie said in shock, "Well Grim is a cat monster, Lilia." Joey said, "so it would make sense he doesn't know anything about the holidays." Matt said, "They're right." Andie agreed, "So don't blame him for not knowing what Halloween is." "Is it that famous? This Halloween thing." Grim asked, "Of course! It's one of Twisted Wonderland's most important events." Hugo explains, "To put it simply... it's our festival!!" "Your... so ghosts?" "Mmhmm. Halloween, every October 31st, is when ghosts who have moved on can return to this world. Not just ghosts like these three who remain in this world... All of the ghosts can come to this world on October 31st, Halloween. To entertain those ghosts coming back to the world of the living, we prepare with these gorgeous decorations. It's also important to disguise yourself as a fearsome ghost or monster." Lilia explains.

"Disguise? What, why?" Grim asked, "Because all means all. Not all ghosts are as well-behaved as us." Laverne said, "They'll tie your shoelaces together while you're sitting down, swap your salt and sugar in the kitchen..." Hugo added, "Turn all your t-shirts inside out, make your pen ink run out..." Victor also added, "There are a ton of those kind of ghost tricks on Halloween." Laverne said, "They don't get the chance to interact with the living on that side, so being here makes them want to pull pranks." Hugo said, "They lived here a long time ago, so apparently it really winds them up." Laverne said, "What pitiful pranks." Grim said, didn't see the pranks very scary.

"Kufufu. Cute, right? Those prank-long ghosts will generally move along if you give them candy." But then, Lilia frowns, "But there are also uncontrollably evil spirits mixed into that group." Lilia had almost a sadistic look in his eyes with a smirk, "I'm sure you remember that kind of evil ghost, hm? An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. A ghost for ghost. The disguises are costumes meant to scare the evil spirits and drive them away instead."

"Well, I guess that's true." Andie, Bobby, Bryan, Joey and Matt look at each other in concern, even though they don't know if it's real or not, but they've seen YouTube videos of people talking to spirits through spirit boxes or ouija boards. And they were so glad they don't have to do any of that stuff. Including getting an ouija board, they do not want to get anywhere near that thing, because once you mess with an ouija board, bad things will happen, especially on Halloween. And they perfer to keep it that way.

But Lilia then smiles as if nothing happened, "...but that's really all super old stuff, now it's mostly just an excuse to have fun and cosplay!" The five best friends sweatdrop at Lilia, "What's with that light talk all of a sudden!" Grim shouted while shaking behind Bobby, "Yeah, there's no reason to think too deeply about it." Laverne said while smiling, "Halloween's been like that since waaaay before we even becane ghosts." Victor said grinning, "Living people can't really see ghosts at all but they still get super excited over October 31st." Hugo said, "Don't think too hard, just remember that "Halloween is a fun day to spend with everyone"!"

"Hmmhmm, a fun day.........but, "can't see ghosts"? Why not? Didn't you say they all come back?" Grim asked Lilia, "Those without lingering attachments or some sort of goal don't stay in this world. Naturally, if you become a ghost, you go to the other side." Lilia answered, "Therefore, the ghosts that remain here have a terribly unstable existence. Outside of areas like Night Raven College that have unusually high levels of magic, they cannot be seen." "Eeeeh. I totally thought that there were ghosts just wandering around everywhere outside of school..." Grim said, "Heeheehee. Actually, we are quite rare." Laverne said smiling.

"But we don't care whether or not you can see us." Hugo said, "Right. Whether you can see us or not. Halloween is fun. That's important." Laverne said, "Mmhmm, that's right. My heart jumps for joy every year at thus time, despite my age." Lilia said with a smile, "Alright! All together then, loudly!" Hugo said, "Happy Halloween!" They all cheer with Andie, Bobby, Bryan, Joey, Matt and Grim staring at them. "T-they're super pumped up..." Grim said, sweatdropping at their excitement.

"Oi, guys. Have you all heard of this Halloween thing too?" Grim asked his magical human friends, "Of course we have, Grim." Andie said, "Halloween is popular in our world too." Joey said, "We love Halloween! It's our favorite holiday!" Bobby said, "Yeah, we used to go trick or treating when we were kids and nowadays before we came here, we always go to amusement parks and fairs for Halloween each year." Bryan said happily, remembering how every year, they would go to Disney World or Universal Studios for Halloween Horror Nights, "Ah, those were good times~" Matt said, feeling nostalgic at the memories they have while celebrating Halloween together before arriving to Twisted Wonderland.

"Guys, did you all have Halloween in your home world too?" Hugo asked, hearing their conversation. "We sure do, Hugo." Andie said, "What an amazing coincidence." Laverne said, amazed, "There are differences, but humans, fairies, ghosts... every species has Halloween traditions. Perhaps it is not so strange that Halloween reached all the way to Andrea, Robert, Bryan, Joseph and Matthias's home world." Lilia said, "Huh. Is Halloween really that special of a day? If it's really that awesome of a day, I'm getting kind of excited about it too!" Grim said, with a smile.

"Right? And Night Raven College has "special festivities" even beyond that." Lilia said, "Special? I don't know anything about that either." Grim said confused with Andie, Bobby, Bryan, Joey and Matt also looked confused as much as Grim is. "Oh my, you don't?" Lilia said in surprise, "...well, there's still a month until Halloween. Ask your teachers for an explanation tomorrow!" Lilia said, waving it off. "Something tells me the headmaster didn't tell us shit about that either." Andie said annoyed, "I swear, that guy is a lazyass bastard." Bobby said, also annoyed.
