Book 2:
Chapter 1: Run

Two Years later...

Loki's P.O.V.

Thor had since gone to journey in space with the guardians; and had left the throne of New Asgard to Valkyrie. Malinda and I would now be considered close-knit.

She is my supervising agent every time we go on a mission. Which, she takes very seriously. Mal is quite carefree when we are off-duty, however she does not let it affect work.

She learnt of my Jötun form after our third mission. I found it to be one of the most humiliating experiences, due to the harsh reactions I had gotten from some witnesses. But, she didn't react as similarly as I thought she would. In fact, she helped me to withdraw from the crowd.

We were sent to Siberia, I accompanied her as she initiated the assignment Fury sent us on. We were supposed to gather some intel sworn as confidential to the Russian government. Something about a new world order.

Mal had successfully retrieved it, secured onto a USB. Unfortunately, it triggered an undetectable alarm that; Mal couldn't disarm with her hacking skills.

The next thing you know we were being attacked by the security around the premises. Strangely enough there was a small town about a few kilometres away. We abandoned our vehicle, which was being fired with bullets.

So, are last choice was for Mal to distract them with fire; then drop us off to the small town.

Just as soon as we arrived there, Mal gave out on strength and we landed on a pile of freshly ploughed snow." As I stepped out, I heard murmurs in the foreign language of the civilians. I didn't notice they were towards me; until a man spoke harshly pointing to my form.

As a young girl shrieked in my direction. I looked down at my hands, too see that I had transformed into my Jötun form. For the first time Malinda had seen me for the monster I was. A blue, rigid, giant creature.
The creatures that brought terror into the hearts of the beings of the nine realms.

She looked back to me then soon diverted her gaze as she took notice of the male civilians now armed and heading to our direction. Malinda immediately created a ring of fire around us raising it as high as she possibly could. To divert them from attacking us.

She gently placed an arm under mine. Lifting us away to another location, to wait for a S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet.

She helped me accept myself, as being a Frost Giant and I did over time. Which is part of the reason why, I developed feelings for her.

Although I usually admire from afar. I sometimes wish we could be more than teammates, more than friends. I wish I could provide her that life she dreamt of, before she joined S.H.I.E.L.D. But, every time I would try to connect with her off-duty. She would react to it as though it were an odd gesture and pull away.

The fourth Valentine's day I had spent here, I may have gone a bit overboard with; the gifts of flower bouquets, the sweets and the sonnets. But, I truly meant it; and it only reminded me how much of a romantic I am. Yet, it only seemed to push her away and make things awkward between us for a little while.

My patience is wearing thin, and I don't know how long I could keep this up or not. Until, I find a spell to forget how I feel.

I understand that Mal has been hurt in the past. She's built her defences strong enough, to where she won't get afraid of being hurt again. Sometimes, I wonder why she would even let them down for someone like me. Looking at my history.
