Chapter 2: All That Matters
Loki's P.O.V.

Valkyrie had welcomed us when we arrived. Mal soon took a job, in a company that sold computer software. As I, aided the men across the harbour.

A year later.....

I had been able to give Mal the ranch I promised her. It's not the beautiful realm of Asgard but, it sure has the same feeling. She didn't have the shimmering lights of New York but, she has the vast view of the ocean side. We were happy and free; and that's all that mattered.

Mal's family had since gotten the news of her resignation from S.H.I.E.L.D.; and we opened a child care centre for all the children of the Asgardian refugees, under three.

On the weekends we would visit town to tour Norway. Although, it's far different from what it was like over one-thousand years ago. I seemed to recognize certain areas.

I stood by the window in our lovely abode; Mal had just come back from the market. She looked graceful as ever in her ivory cottage dress and a wreath of lavender, upon her thick dark locks.

I had exited to help her with the items she brought. "Hello, Love." "Hi." She gives me a peck on the lips. "I can't wait to try this famous dish you've been talking about." I smile. "You're going to love it." She assures.

We had our early supper by the ocean side as a picnic. On our way home we noticed a small house going up in smoke. "Is that a fire?" I question but, Mal had already ran over to the scene.

Mal's P.O.V.

I had made my way to the burning house, a woman was screaming the name of a male. She turns to me. "My son, I came from the market I forgot to turn off the stove!" I immediately acted, retracting the flames and entered the building to look for the son.

I called to see if anyone would respond as I searched through the rooms. I found a small boy unconscious on the floor. The smoke must've already gotten in his lungs. I rushed him out of the building and immediately performed CPR.

He started coughing after three rounds; the ambulance and fire rescue came just in time. "Thank you, thank you!" The mother cried as gave me an embrace. I just smiled.

I hadn't realized I was covered in ash, until Loki wiped my face. He fixed me a bath as soon as we got home.

"You were amazing today." He sits on the bath stool beside the tub. "No... I just know a person in need when I see one." I reply.

"See, this is why I love you." He begins to undress. "If it were the old me, I would've shouted what I'd done on the mountain tops." He dramatizes. I chuckle.

He steps into the tub and lowers himself so, that he is just above me. "You bring out the best in me, Love. He rasps.

"I love you, Lo'." I whisper, caressing his cheek as he connects our lips.
