"How the hell did this happen?" Derek yells into the phone.

Maggie Webbs is standing next to him, looking shocked and a bit scared as he continues to yell, multiple unpleasant words crossing his lips.

"I-I don't know," Ryan answers, his voice sounding even more nervous through the phone.

"That's not an answer, damn it!" Derek yells again.

"With all due respect sir, there's nothing we can do about it now," Olivia's voice replaces Ryan's.

Derek knows he's on speaker. He is pissed, sitting at the edge of his bed watching the latest breaking news report. His entire team, save for himself and Webbs are at the police station, hopefully in a private room to avoid anyone else hearing the tongue lashing he just gave them.

"Webbs, you need to get back there and try to control the press," Derek says to the woman next to him.

"Don't you need someone here with you?" Maggie asks.

"I'm not an invalid, I'll be fine for a few hours on my own," Derek's voice comes low and nasty.

Somehow, case files had been leaked. The FBI team compiled mountains of different theories and lists that were all in the filing box. Yet many of their files had been appearing on the news. Derek knows that no one from his team would do that, as they all know the importance of controlling the media.

Their unsub doesn't want attention. He wants this team and this team only. With all this information out, the unsub could get spooked and disappear. Stop killing. They would have to call it a cold case and move on. He would get away with it.

The thought enraged Derek and everyone else on his team. If he knew who had given those files out, they would be beaten to a pulp by his own two fists.

This leak could have just ruined any chance they have of ever finding the 'Scarlet Killer' as the press named him, and Derek Shepherd was enraged.

"Right now, we just need to do damage control. I have to be at the hospital in an hour," Derek speaks again, having taken a few moments to calm himself and clear his thoughts.

"And what do we do after? Just sit around and wait to see how our unsub reacts?" Jake's rough voice now comes through the phone.

"I...I think we have to. I need to walk away for a bit. I will clear my head so I can get a fresh look on this. Give me two hours for my follow-up at Grey-Sloan, and I'll be back," Derek sighs.

"Should I drive you?" Maggie offers. At this point, she had gathered all her belongings and was about to step out the door. "The hospital is on the way to the station,"

"Yes, yes, thank you," Derek gets up and pulls himself together as quickly as possible. "I will call you back after. You know how to reach me with updates," Derek says to his team before hanging up.

He and Maggie pile into her black SUV and turn on the sirens, speeding their way through the city. In half an hour, they reach the hospital and she drops him off before continuing her drive to the police station.

Derek can see the crowds of people and news reporters everywhere. This is going to be front page news. But he shook his head and shifted his thoughts from his case to his doctor. Knowing the woman was inside that building, and the two would be alone in a locked room together for a certain amount of time...that distracted him from the case perfectly.

He walked through the hospital, checked in with a nurse, sat in the waiting room for what seemed like forever, and was finally shown to an exam room. He had to wait another half an hour before the woman he had been thinking about all day ran into the room. Dr. Meredith Grey.
