"You're joking me," Bella gasps as her eyes bug out of her face. "Invisibility?"
"Yeah," I giggle. "Like, see-through, invisible."
"That is crazy," She exclaims as Jasper smirks from beside me.
"You're telling me," Jasper says as I lightly elbow him in the stomach with a small laugh.
Bella and I had only been separated a week if that, but it felt like so much longer as I shared some of the biggest, and most life-changing news I'll ever have.
"What else?" Bella asks desperately. "What about the whole blood thing?"
"As if Edward didn't already fill you in on that," Jasper interrupts as we each look towards Bella's mate. I could see in the corner of my eyes as Bella rolled her eyes with a huff.
"Please," She huffs. "All I've heard for the last four days is 'it's not safe' or 'blood lust doesn't make people react rationally- she won't be the same Sophia that you know."
"Excuse me," I state, shocked, turning to stare my new brother down. "That is incredibly rude, Edward."
"Yeah, well, I now realise you're different," He says quietly.
"Oh, so you're finally starting to realise that?" Jaspers snaps protectively as his question is met only with a glare from his brother.
"Anyway..." I say, filling the awkward silence that overcame the four of us. "The blood lust hasn't actually been much of a problem, which understandably would create a lot of anxiety among everyone. I only actually became thirsty after we first found out about my gift, and even so, I can only drink blood out of a cup."
"What do you mean 'out of a cup'?" She asks, subconsciously leaning in as she listens intently to my updates.
"Carlisle was really smart about ensuring that we had some blood in the house just in case my lack of thirst was based around the fact that I still had my human blood running through my system," I tell her.
"I still don't get it," Bella interrupts.
"Pretty much, Soph's terrible at hunting," Alice laughs as she comes waltzing into the room from nowhere.
"Terrible is an understatement," Emmett booms, as he too appears in the room from behind Alice, a quiet Rosalie following after him as she goes and stands by the window. I could tell she was still uncomfortable with Bella's choice of a future but I did appreciate the fact that she was holding back vocally.
"That actually doesn't surprise me much," Bella laughs as she looks from me to the family. "When we were younger, Dad always took us with him fishing until he got fed up with the tantrums that Soph would after finding out that the fish were suffocating every time they were pulled from the water... Come to think about it, I don't think I've actually seen you eat a fish since."
"That's because I haven't," I sulk. "It's a terrible use of time. Those poor fish."
"You're so weird," Jasper whispers into my ear as I look up at his smiling face.
"You eat one," I say almost seriously. "I dare you."
"You know I won't," He smirks. "But apparently our reasons are different."
"So now that we know that blood isn't a problem, when are you gonna get Micah?" Bella interrupts us, as each of the individual conversations around the room pause.
"It's kinda up to Carlisle in a way," I tell her. "But me being able to sit next to you with absolutely no problem at all should be a pretty good reason to let me."
"Why is it up to Carlisle?" Bella asks confused. "He's your son."
"I know that, B," I say as I let out a breath at my sisters stubborn nature. "But I have to trust Carlisle's intuition, and in all truth, no matter how much I miss Micah, if Carlisle doesn't believe it's in his best interest, it's better for me to stay away."
"Now, I don't think that's going to be a problem much longer," A voice says as my attention is drawn towards the door to the lounge room.
Carlisle was stood there with a cheeky smile on his face as I feel Jasper tense up beside me. I became confused as I watched Esme move into the room from behind her husband, my eyes trained, but not able to register the bundle in her hands. My breath halted as she walked towards me- my favourite smell in the world entering my senses- the smell of freshly mowed grass after a rainfall- the only smell in the world that could ever draw me in- my son. I couldn't help but stare in absolute shock as my baby boy was placed in my hands, Jaspers arm moving around my shoulder as his other instinctively gravitates towards Micah's soft cheeks.
At Jasper's touch, Micah's closed eyes opened, clearly startled at the familiar touch of his dad. After a moment of looking up at us, Micah's mouth instantly changed into a smile. My eyes couldn't help but well up with tears at his perfect little face. I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed with a pang of pain. It had only been a couple of weeks, and yet my baby had grown so much. I felt angry that for even just a moment, that I hadn't been around to see these moments of growth.
Our family seemed more and more important at this moment as I looked up at Jasper with a smile before looking over at my sister. I was beyond grateful.
"Your eyes," Bella gasped, pointing at the small glowing tears that fell from my cheek.
"Get with it Bella," Emmett sasses. "She's a weird vampire."
"Not weird," Jasper says. "Unique."
