"SLYTHERIN!" The hat shouted at last. I instantly felt relief. The Slytherin table was applauding and I'm sure I caught a slight smile from my father whilst I was walking to the table.

As I was walking I saw Blaise beckoning me towards him. I sat down next to him and gave him a big smile. I couldn't hide how happy I was that I got into the house I wanted.

"Hey! You got Slytherin. Thats cool. I didn't know your last name was Snape though." He whispered. "Oh... urm... yeah. It isn't always the greatest first impression on people. Sorry for not saying anything." I replied, whispering.
"Its fine. It doesn't matter what your name is. Your Slytherin and a cool chick so we can friends." He whispered back. I smiled in return and then turned to watch the rest of the sorting ceremony.

When it was over, Dumbledore gave a speech about where we are and aren't allowed to go. He kept it short which I was happy about.

Afterwards, food appeared on the table and I began placing some onto my plate. I turned to look around me and noticed Draco on the opposite side to me next to a pug-like girl. I thought introductions were in order.

"Hello, My names Liana." I said waving gently to the girl opposite me. She scowled before saying "right, Snape's daughter. Your interesting aren't you. Bet you'll be a teachers pet too." She said glaring at me. I don't know what i did to make her so rude but I wasn't having her get away with it.

"Right, yeah if you say so. You say I'm the interesting one but I'm not the one that looks half pug. I thought only purebloods could be in Slytherin." I said smirking. I heard Blaise chuckle beside me.

The girl didn't reply but instead got up and went to sit with a group of girls at the other end of the table. I burst into laughter as well as Blaise. I had tears streaming down my face by time I was able to compose myself.

"Well, someone's touchy huh?" I said smirking. "Your here five minutes and already making enemies?" Draco asked with an unreadable expression. I nodded in return still smirking. "Your definitely a Slytherin." He replied with a chuckle.

We spent the remainder of the time talking and finishing our meals.

Once everyone had finished the plates were cleared and us first years were told to follow our prefects to the common room. I got up to walk and joined the back of the group of first years. Blaise came and stood by me. Confused I asked "You're not a first year. Why are you here?" He chuckled before answering. "I thought I'd walk down with you. It can be scary to go down there for a first time. Besides Crabbe and Goyle are still stuffing their faces with puddings." He replied smirking.

"What about Draco?" I asked still confused. He didn't have to leave Draco to come with me. "What about me?" Came a cold voice from my right. "Crap! You scared the life out of me." I said shocked. I hadn't realised he was right there.

"He's coming with us, obviously." Blaise said glaring at Draco, who returned it with a smirk. What was up with these boys?

We started walking down some stairs until we were infront of a portrait with a snake. "Pureblood" said the prefect and the portrait swung open.

Everyone shuffled and clambered into the room. It was dark and mainly consisted of black, silver and green decorations. It had sofas and two fireplaces on either side of the room. There were some tables and chairs against a wall, like desks. It must have seemed cold, but to me, it was cozy.

The prefect began to speak.

"To get into the Slytherin common room you need the password, pureblood. You are not to tell anyone outside of Slytherin the password. Most people dislike the Slytherins anyway. First and second years are accommodated on the second floor. Third and fourth years on the third. Fifth and sixth years on the fourth and seventh years on the fifth floor. The bottom floor is the common room. The girls dorms are to the right and the boys to the left. During the day, students are free to come and go from their common rooms as they please, so long as they don't skip class. However, students must respect a curfew and return to their dormitories before 10 pm. The only exception to this rule are Prefects, whose duties require them to be up earlier than most students. You will get your schedules tomorrow morning before breakfast."
