6: Its Just The Beginning

Blaise showed me around the corridors of Hogwarts for the remainder of our free period. We spent the time talking about their previous year at Hogwarts as well as him acting as a tour guide.

Turns out there last year was very eventful, he told me all about how Harry had defeated Voldermort at the end of the year.

He also told me some rather funny stories about the shenanigans the Slytherins got up to.

It was quite enjoyable to look around the castle and just talk.

Although, that did come to an end when it edged closer to 3pm. Soon classes started to empty and we were off to our last lessons of the day. Blaise walked off to Astronomy and I went to the room where Defense against the dark arts was held.

I waited outside the door to soon be met with a squealing Emily who seemed over the moon about having a lesson with some Professor Lockhart.

We went inside the classroom and sat in the middle. I noticed all of the girls in the class, including the Gryffindors, were gazing dreamily up towards the stone balcony. I looked up to see a foppish, handsome wizard with wavy blonde hair and particularly straight and shiny teeth beaming down at us.

This must have been what all the girls had been squealing about all day.

Personally, I thought he looked rather funny. He dressed in very bold colours and was way too... happy. Even his voice sounded like unicorns and rainbows were flying out of his mouth. I felt utterly disgusted.

"Hello everyone. I am Professor Gilderoy Lockhart, Order of Merlin, Third Class, Honorary Member of the Dark Force Defense League and five-time winner of Witch Weekly's Most-Charming-Smile Award -- but I don't talk about that. I didn't get rid of the Bandon Bansheeby smiling at her!" He said with a sharp smile at the end.

He gave us a quiz to complete during the lesson. A quiz - on the first day. Honestly, I was starting to dislike this teacher more and more. Not only was it a quiz but it wasn't even a quiz on D.A.D.A it was a quiz about him.

This lesson dragged on for the longest time and now my second favourite magical subject was ruined. With potions being my first, of course.

It was finally four o'clock after what seemed like eternity. I rushed out of the classroom along with all the boys. All the other girls stayed behind to speak to Lockhart, though.

I bumped into a something hard as I was trying to flee from the class.

"Oh sorry." I said apologetically. I looked up to see a young boy with deep brown eyes and curly brown hair that framed his face. He had olive, clear skin and seemingly perfectly symmetrical features. He had an angelic aura.

"No, I'm sorry I was in the way." He said, brushing some loose curls behind his ear. He chuckled softly before speaking again "aren't you just as eager as the other girls to check out the new teacher?" He asked.

Now it was my turn to chuckle. I stepped out the doorway and into the corridor before speaking. "No, any extra time in that class with him and I may end up in St. Mungos." I replied, laughing softly.

He laughed in response to what I had said. "Well, if you aren't going in there then may I walk you to the common room?" He asked politely, with a smile. He hard perfect white teeth to match his features. I noticed he was wearing slytherin robes and from the way our encounter had happened I assumed he had just come from the same class, meaning he was also a first year.

I nodded mutely. "Yes, I think that's the least you could do after getting in my way." I said with a smirk.

He laughed in response which I was glad about. I never know how people will react to some of my jokey comments and it has lost me friends in the past.
