Alex

We walked to the "secret headquarters" that was still a complete mystery to me as where the location is. I felt like we were all just walking in circles to stall time. I keep thinking that they really are just stalling until someone they know or is in their "group" comes to help kidnap me or something. They both are giving me an uneasy feeling, as if the sky were about to fall any minute and crush us, or most likely me.

Quinn and Gavin were giving me an uneasy feeling to add on to my confusion of what's going on. They were total strangers and total opposites, yet also best friends and the ones who were taking me some place safe. At least, I hope.

I keep telling myself that this is a stupid idea and that I shouldn't have even come along with them, but there was no way I could make a run for it now. There are two of them and one of me. I'd be caught before i even reach a block due to them obviously being stronger and probably faster.

Lost in thought, I continued walking but crashed into a person who decided to stop in the middle of the street near the train tracks the went through the city. Before I could fall on my butt like an idiot, someone put their arms around my waist and pulled me to my feet. I looked up and realized who I ran into was the same person who helped me up.

Gavin

I quickly push away from him and stand up after stumbling, and as soon as I stand up straight, I see Gavin looking at me silently asking if I was okay. I give a slight smile and nod.

Well, it would have been rude just to have stood there cold heartedly.

Wouldn't it? Silently thinking over what I just said, I realized that they were walking across the tracks to the other side so I quickly followed then across. But suddenly something in the distance flickered down tracks. It could have only been my imagination but it was clear to see in the darkness that it was obviously a light, but why would anyone in Thálassa be up this late? It wasn't common unless you were a runaway or city official. Suddenly, realization hit me like a brick of walls. The light might be the authorities.

We were going to get caught, I was going to rot in prison!

But I stopped thinking that when I heard a train whistle pierce through the wind and hit my ears. A train was coming. I never have really seen a train up close except when I was little and my parents took me to places all over the city. The trains were all controlled using computers so the were programed to stop always on time. It amazed me how the society was alway able to make our lives so efficient and easy with technology, yet they couldn't keep the citizens in place. I mean, what kind of city are they running when there are so many runaways like me. Lost in my thought I didn't realize what was happening till i was lying on my back, on the ground, with Gavin on top of me.

I lost my temper at that moment. "What the heck do you think you're doing!" I yelled incredibly loud not caring if the officials actually were coming or not. I was just angry that he would pull something like this.

When I said that, his eyebrows scrunched together and his lips turned into a frown. His eyes began to reflect his rage as he spoke, "What the heck am I doing?" he asked annoyed. "What the heck do you think you're doing!"

I started to get annoyed. "I was walking across the tracks! What were you doing?" I asked again angrily.

He stared down at me in disbelief, "I was saying you from getting hit by the train the just zoomed by! You know! The ones the were on the tracks that were about to hit you and kill you!" He said annoyed by my ungreatfulness. "You're welcome by the way." He said still annoyed as he got up.

I quickly stood up and dusted my hands off on my jeans. I hastily pushed my hoodie sleeves up until they were at my elbows. I ran across the tracks to where Quinn was standing, waiting for us to come over. He was smirking at us when we came over.

I gave him an annoyed look, "What?!" I said snapping from frustration.

He smirk became bigger. "Oh don't pretend with me. You purposely did nothing when the train came because you knew lover boy over there would come to the rescue." He stated accusingly.

I stared back in shock. "Why would I want to get hit by a train!?" I said getting annoyed again.

Gavin was still fuming and walked slowly to where we were but Quinn didn't seem to notice, still looking at me with his stupid, idiotic smirk. "Oh come on! You were looking right at the train and wouldn't move when we called your name! And you're telling me you didn't set yourself up!?" He questioned a little too amused by my reaction.

I was about to argue but thought what just happened over. I realized that it did seem like that's what I did. I was trying to come up with a good argument but couldn't seem to say anything when my mouth opened and closed. I probably looked like a fish and look at Quinn chuckle at my expression, I assumed he thought so as well.

I finally get annoyed and said the first thing that came to my mind. "That's not true!" I shouted defensively while blushing madly at the thought of what Quinn said.

All of sudden Gavin came over and heard me say that one sentence. "What's not true?" He questioned.

Quinn smirked and opened his mouth to say something but I quickly cut him off. "Nothing!" I shouted a little too fast. I could still see that Gavin was confused but Quinn just smiled innocently which was hard to take serious due to his bad boy appearance.

Quinn turned around. "Come on. We're almost there." He said as he started walking away.

I quickly caught up to him and harshly whispered to him, "Don't tell him anything." I added a glare at the end to seal the deal and walked off before he could argue.

Gavin caught up to me, giving me a weird look now and then, but didn't say anything as we all walked in silence to headquarters.
