Cotton Candy

I'm basing this on a fairground that's in the UK called Alton Towers. Also, we're just gonna pretend that COVID-19 doesn't exist in this book 😂

Dom and I both had free time, which was quite rare for the both of us. Dom was always making new music or on tour, I was constantly working, not having a moment to spare. The next week, we had to ourselves, so we wanted to make it special. Dom had released his new song, Cotton Candy, which gave me the idea of us having a date at a Fairground. Alton Towers to be exact. My favourite fairground. I didn't tell him, I wanted to keep it a surprise until we got there.
"Dom, come with me, quick. I've got a surprise for you!" I called to my boyfriend from the front door of our house.
"What, what, what??" Dom shouted back to me, running towards me.
"We're going on a bit of a road trip, grab your shit."
"What do I need? Shoes, keys, coat..."
"And a bit of daredevil spirit." I suggested, forgetting who I was talking to.
"Don't forget who I am, (Y/n). I'm the DEFINITION of daredevil!" Dom joked, kissing me on the forehead before running to grab his stuff. Once he was ready, he hopped into the car, that I previously got into while waiting for him. I started the ignition and plugged in my aux chord for my phone before setting off. I gave my phone to Dom so that he could have control of the music. We sang Oasis, Billie Eilish, MGK, Green Day and loads more on the way.

Time skip~~~~

We pulled into the car park of the fair and got out the car. Dom's jaw immediately dropped once he realised where we were.
"Oh my god! You brought me to Alton TOWERS?! I LOVE YOU!!" Dom lifted me up and kissed me. I had already prepped a lunch before he could see so I took the bag of food out of the back of my car, closed the door and locked it. At this point, Dom was like an impatient kid, wanting to get into the fair and make a start on the rides.
"Come on, slowpoke!! I wanna go on the fuckin' rides!!" Dom kept running ahead while I was left with the bags.
"I would if I wasn't stuck with all the heavy bags!" I joked, holding my left arm out. Dom jogged back to me and took the bags from my left hand, then grabbed my hand, pulling me toward the gates. We checked in with our online ticket and picked up a wristband to download our ride pictures on our phones. Dom then dragged me to the most famous ride in the whole park, The Smiler. Besides it's horrific mistakes when it first opened, it's a REALLY fun ride, so I didn't protest. We waited in the line for about 40 mins before we got on as it was the most popular ride there, at least we got on. We put our bags to the side of the ride and got strapped in by the staff. I completely forgot how scary this ride was, so once we got off, my adrenaline was through the roof. Dom was bouncing up and down like a kid whereas I was walking off slowly, shaking and cold, but still laughing.
"Oh my god, that was sick!" Dom said, grabbing our stuff. I was speechless. I just grabbed the bags I was previously holding and agreed with a mumble, which made Dom laugh as we left.

Time skip again bc I'm lazy~~~~

We had been on so many rides. The smiler, oblivion, Rita, nemesis and my personal favourite, Thirteen. It was the perfect day. We stopped and sat at a table for a food break before going onto the wooden ride, Wickerman.
"How's the day treated you so far, babe?" I questioned Dom, hoping he had a positive response.
"Love, it's been amazing. What would I do without you?" Dom lightly grabbed my hand from across the table, squeezing it softly with a smile.
"You've just worked so hard on this new album, I feel like you deserve every moment of today." I started to ramble slightly before Dom walked around the table to where I was sitting and sat next to me. He put his arm around me as I put my head on his shoulder. He kissed my head multiple times and grabbed my hand again.
"Thank you so much for today, baby. I feel so lucky to have you with me." I smiled and looked up at Dom, who was already looking back at me. I leaned in and kissed him. Dom froze for a second before kissing me back. This kiss was what we needed. He had been working so hard on the new album, which had stopped us from seeing each other as often as we used to. It wasn't anything new as it happened with his previous album, but it doesn't make it any less lonelier. Once we pulled away from the kiss, Dom held my face with his hand, staring into my (y/e/c) eyes. I stared back into his handsome green ones. After a couple of second, which felt like a lifetime, we broke our eye contact and continued eating.

After finished the food, we packed everything up and waited in line for the next rides, Wickerman, Runaway Mine Train, River Rapids and lots more. After a few rides, we came by a stall which sold sweets, crisps and drinks. I happened to notice a bag of Cotton Candy, so I grabbed it and payed for it. Afterwards, I opened it and then pulled Dom into a hug, then whispered into his ear,
"I wanna get stuck between your teeth like..." then lifted up the bag of opened Cotton Candy. I then took a piece of it and popped it into his mouth, causing him to giggle and blush lightly.
"So, you'll remember me, darlin'"
I winked and kissed his cheek, then we carried on walking, while actually singing the song rather than quoting it.

Time Skip, once more~~~~

It didn't even feel like the day went by as slow as it did. People don't lie when they say that time flies when you have fun. As the rides started to close, we followed the crowd of people who had already started to depart the premises. Eventually we were back in the car. I needed to take a break before driving because we had walked around for hours, it completely took out my feet. I took five minutes to stop my legs from hurting before starting the car and driving home.
"(Y/n)?"
"Yes, Dommy?"
"I wanna show you something..." Dom pulled out another bag of Cotton Candy from his coat pocket. It was a different colour to the one we had completely consumed.
"Hey, you didn't steal that, did you?" I joked, "it seemed pretty suspicious how you just pulled it out of your pocket"
"No, babe. You know I wouldn't do that!" Dom laughed at my joke, "I picked it up when you went the toilets earlier on. I wanna put a song on, really quick." I pulled out my phone from my coat pocket since I forgot to take my coat of before driving. I passed the phone to Dom and he plugged the aux chord in again. After a quick minute, I started to hear a bass guitar and a drum kit kick in. Dom started playing Cotton Candy. We started singing the lyrics as soon as they came in:
Tallulah knows... that she's not the only one I'm holding close. On the low, I get vertigo from body overdose...

After the song ended, Dom put my Spotify playlist on and placed my phone on my lap, trying not to disturb my driving. Half an hour of driving passed before I heard light snoring over the slow song I was listening to. I glanced to my left and saw Dom asleep in the most awkward position, with the seatbelt practically strangling him and his left leg halfway up the door and his right foot propped up on the dashboard. I pulled over, took my seatbelt off and moved his foot off the dashboard and attempted to move the seatbelt so it wasn't hurting his neck. Once I finally did this, I buckled back up and started driving again. After another hour, we were back home. Dom was still asleep in the position I fixed him into and I was barely awake myself. I unbuckled his seatbelt and shook him lightly.
"Dom, baby?"
Dom shot up like a lightning bolt, feeling like he was unable to breathe. He must have had a nightmare.
"Hey, hey! It's ok, it's only me." I grabbed him by his shoulders and turned him towards me, making him look into my eyes. He immediately pulled me into a hug and started crying into the crook of my neck.
"I-I thought... I thought we were in a car wreck... I thought you were gone... and I was alone again." He cried more as a started to shush him and stroke his hair.
"It was my fault... I played music too loud... and you didn't notice a truck coming... it was my fault." Dom didn't stop repeating himself before I interrupted him.
"Nothing's your fault, baby. Nothing. Look, we're back home. We're safe. I'm alive. Let's get you inside, come on." I kissed Dom's wet eyes and opened my door. I grabbed some of the bags from the trunk of the car and put them on the pavement, waiting for Dom to come out of the car. Once he did, I asked him to help me with the bags. He took two of the bags and I took the other two and we walked over to the front door. I locked the car and took my house key, putting it into the door, opening it. We were greeted with a dark empty house, so I started stumbling around, trying to find the light switch. Once the lights were on, we put the bags in the living room and went straight to bed. Once we were in bed, Dom pulled me on top of his so my head was on his chest. He rubbed my back as I started to drift off.

"Thank you for today, my love. I'm so grateful for you being in my life. Have a great sleep, baby"
