Junkyu kicked his feet as he sat on the bench, waiting. It's been a week since the new semester started, since the freshmen entered. Yeongue and Jeongwoo decided to study music theory with Yoonbin and Yedam as Haruto went to study architecture. Junkyu was waiting near the music department, close to the music theory lecture hall.
"Sorry to keep you waiting!" Junkyu lifted his head at the familiar voice, immediately smiling at the sight of his best friend.
"Nah, don't worry about it, Yedam." Yedam smiled back, shaking his head. Junkyu pulled himself up from the bench, the two beginning to walk side by side. "Where do you wanna get lunch?"
"Usual?" Yedam asked. Junkyu gave Yedam a knowing look, a smirk on his face.
"Usual," he agreed. The two then started their way to the small restaurant right beside the campus. The walk was comfortable, the two keeping quiet as they didn't need to talk to not feel awkward.
As they walked down the sidewalk, they walked by many people. Their faces quickly passed by and Junkyu couldn't careless to look at their faces, but when Junkyu carelessly glanced up, he felt as though his heart fell into his stomach. The shock made his moving feet come to a stop, the boy standing still and in the middle of the side walk.
"Junkyu?" Yedam glanced back at the frozen boy, looking at his wide eyes. "Kyu?"
Junkyu didn't respond and simply ignored the other boy. He spun around and looked behind him, hoping that the familiar face wasn't far, but unluckily for him, there was no one behind him anymore. Was a ghost following him? Was it her ghost? He sure hoped it wasn't.
He didn't snap out of his gaze until Yedam slapped his back. "Dude, stop dozing off!"
"S...sorry," Junkyu mumbled, trying to bring his focus back to lunch. Yedam's forehead creased as he looked at his friend in worry.
"Hey, are you okay?" Junkyu snorted at the question.
"Of course I am, why wouldn't I be?" he responded, which he was only given a skeptical stare in return. Yedam sighed before rolling his eyes.
"Oh, I don't know, it's not like you've been spacing out a lot more often, getting startled more easily, losing sleep and losing your appetite nowadays, definitely not," he said sarcastically, "I'm being serious Junkyu. What's bothering you?"
"Nothing," Junkyu responded sharply, "don't worry about it."
"How can I not worry about it...!" Yedam stressed. Junkyu had been this way after Insoo left and everyone could tell just how much it affected him, which was why the topic of a boy named 'Insoo' was 'taboo'. It's been roughly three years since then, but for some reason, Junkyu couldn't just forget her.
Yedam couldn't help but wonder just what was so special about Insoo that Junkyu couldn't let go of? Junkyu was the last person to see her and the last person she texted out of the group, but that would have that much of an impact on him, right? Right? Yedam sighed, knowing very well that it would heavily impact his friend, especially because of his oblivious friends feelings for Insoo.
"Whatever, let's just grab some food." Yedam decided, not wanting to press on any more. Just what did Junkyu know that they all didn't? Yedam also thought back to how Junkyu and Mashiho would have 'secret discussions'. Did Mashiho know something about Insoo?
Of course Yedam was curious about what happened to his friend, the two were quite close despite not having a lot of time to know each other. Insoo even liked him, which he was greatly flattered by, so naturally he would also want to know what they knew. Yedam didn't think of himself as dumb, he actually thought he was quite smart, but whenever it came to this case, he just couldn't ever understand a single thing. Just what exactly is happening?
Junkyu glanced over at Yedam, looking at his concentrated face. Junkyu could only guess that Yedam was thinking about him and his unhealthy obsession with Insoo, which was accurate. He himself didn't know why he was so hung up on her. The girl who he had a small crush on. Yeah, 'small'.
His last memories of her was her fighting with her mom and he was given a small snippet of what her life really was. Hell. He had an idea on how everything came to be, the girl not even trying to censor herself despite standing in front of a total outsider right in front of the academy's gate (especially since she openly shouted that she was a female), but he still wanted to talk about it with the girl himself. Even though he had already gotten the gist of the story by Mashiho, he still wanted to hear it from her own mouth.
Was it because he wanted some kind of closure? He wasn't exactly sure. If anything, he just wanted to see her again, even if it's for a minute or less. He just wanted to know if she was well.
"Hey, Junkyu?" The said boy hummed in response, letting Yedam know he was listening. "Your mother's birthday is coming up and I heard she's throwing a party in the first time in forever, she invited my parents. Are you going to go?"
Junkyu scowled at the mention of his mom. "She left me. Why would I celebrate her birthday?"
"Don't talk like that about the person who gave birth to you," Yedam lightly scolded, "well, I take that as a 'no'. My parents are forcing me so I was hoping to have a buddy...but I guess I'll try to make new friends."
"Yeah, go crazy," Junkyu muttered, opening the door to the restaurant. The bell from above them rang, signalling their arrival. The two went to sit in their usual booth, sitting right beside the window in the front, watching as pedestrians passed by them. After ordering their usual meal, they were left again in silence. "So, you find anybody yet?"
"What do you mean?" Yedam played dumb, knowing exactly what Junkyu was trying to say.
"Do you have a girlfriend or boyfriend or something? You're handsome and a pretty decent guy, I'm sure someone would settle for you." Yedam scoffed, bringing his hand to his chest, offended.
"Jeez, thanks. Good to know I'm a 'pretty decent guy' that someone would probably 'settle' for," Yedam retorted sarcastically, rolling his eyes. Junkyu mimicked him, rolling his eyes too.
"You know what I mean," Junkyu answered. Yedam let out a melodic laugh, shaking his head.
"Yeah yeah...I don't, actually. I've been waiting for...the right person, y'know?" Junkyu nodded his head understandingly before talking.
"Yeah, I get that, but sometimes the right person is the person you lease expect it to be," Junkyu commented. Yedam gasped playfully, poking Junkyu's arm.
"Did you just say something smart? Holy shit, is the world ending?" Junkyu smacked Yedam's arm as Yedam howled into a fit of laughter, Junkyu soon following after. The two laughed and giggled to themselves stupidly, forgetting why they were even laughing in the first place.
