All different types of cereal were available to choose at breakfast time as well as different degrees of toasted bread which flew around the Great Hall on long, silver bread racks. I tucked into my jam on toast while Harry made eye contact with Cho Chang across the tables, leading him to spill his drink out of his mouth in nervousness.
He really was making a fool out of himself when he was around her.
"Look at this!" Hermione exclaimed. I turned to the left of me to see her scanning a newspaper which presented the latest article from Rita 'oh so strange' Skeeter. "Miss Granger, a plain but ambitious girl, seems to be developing a taste for famous wizards. Her latest prey is none other than the Bulgarian Bonbon, Viktor Krum. No word on how Harry Potter has taken the news." She read, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Bulgarian Bonbon..." I repeated.
What a choice of words.
"Parcel for you Mr Weasley." A young Gryffindor boy said as he handed Ron a large box covered in crippled paper.
"Thank you Nigel." Ron responded however the student didn't leave. "Not now, Nigel. Later" Ron whispered to him and it became apparent that Nigel was gazing almost star struck at Harry. "I promised him I'd get him Harry's autograph."
Ron rifled through his parcel and revealed a long, brown cloak-looking piece of clothing. "Mum's sent me a dress." Ron said shockingly as everyone around the Gryffindor table started to laugh. Harry started to pick out the other pieces of the outfit from the box as Ron walked over to Ginny as he though the present was for her. Me and Hermione continued in fits of giggles as Hermione stated, "They're not for Ginny, they're dress robes for you."
The whole table erupted in laughs again as Ron started to look increasingly more worried. "Dress robes? For what?" He asked.
"I think the Yule Ball? Don't ask me what that is but I heard Professor McGonagall talking about running some time of class for us to talk about it today." I answered, taking another piece of toast. Ron sat down miserably, stuffing his dress robes back into the box.

Me and Draco sat in the corner of the Great Hall as study period had started. Rapidly, I wrote down notes for the Charms class exam, trying to revise what we had learnt up to this point in the year. Honestly, what was it with teacher's issuing exams without proper notice?
Draco continuously threw small rounded up pieces of parchment at my head as his form of entertainment. "Draco are you going to do any work?" I asked, a slight of annoyed tone to my voice. "Darling, I don't need to revise, I never have and I'm still coming top in every class." He responded.
I just shook my head in disbelief; it's true he was incredibly intelligent. I continued on to read over my revision material as Draco started tracing shapes on my arms; he really was bored.
"Alright Malfoy." Crabbe and Goyle both said as they took a seat opposite us. Draco nodded in greeting as the boys took up the rest of the space on the table with some food they'd probably stolen. Draco's friends knew that me and him were somewhat 'together' but they didn't really acknowledge me.
I think that was my que to leave.
I started packing up my work into my black backpack until Draco grabbed my wrist. "Where are you going?" He asked, his eyebrows furrowed.
"McGonagall's issued a lesson for the whole of Gryffindor to talk about the upcoming Yule Ball. I've betted it's a dance class because it would make sense for there to be dancing at a ball, the Weasley twins think it's a secret plan to-."
"Dancing class? Will you be dancing with Potter and Weasley?" Draco questioned, his expression serious.
"Maybe, I'm not even sure if we will be learning dancing." I responded.
"Alright, see you later." Draco said, as he turned back to the table and actually started work.
I walked out of the Great Hall straight after; Draco's lack of personal display of affection and jealousy were not a good mix.

Fred and George owed me five galleons as it really was a dancing class. The whole hall of Gryffindor students erupted in complaints as Professor McGonagall wanted us to represent Hogwarts well through the means of dance.
"Inside every girl, a secret swan slumbers longing to burst out and take flight." McGonagall exclaimed as she radiantly explained why having grace while dancing was important. Ron started mumbling something to Seamus which caused McGonagall's attention to turn to him. "Inside every boy, a lion ready to prance. Mr Weasley, would you join me please?"
Ron's face started turning the colour of a tomato as he sheepishly got up. "Now, place your right hand on my waist." Professor McGonagall asked causing Ron to become even more embarrassed. A whistle from one of the twins caused me and Hermione to start laughing even more at Ron.
Mr Filch started playing the classic tune on the record player while McGonagall repeated 'one, two, three' as her and Ron danced slowly around the middle of the room. Ron's face stayed very screwed up as Professor McGonagall ordered us all to stand and practice.
I decided to work with Hermione as the boys didn't want to bruise their egos and join us. We twirled each other around and joked constantly, even asking Ginny to join for a bit where we made up a routine as we weren't taking it very seriously.
"So Hermione, will you be going to the Yule Ball with the Bulgarian Bonbon?" I asked half jokingly as we continued to 'practice'. "Please don't call him that." She responded, a look of cringe on her face, "I'm not sure honestly, we don't speak a lot, he just sits with me while we work in the library. Who do you hope to go with?"
"Well, in all honesty I do hope Draco asks me. I know you don't agree with us getting close but I do really like him." I responded. I was glad I could tell her the truth.
"Honestly (Y/N), I just want you to be happy. If this was, I don't know the start of the year, I'd probably be going with Ron and you with Harry, as friends of course."
Our conversation came to an end as the boys were forced to start practicing. I could see that Hermione was definitely starting to take a liking to Ron.

I walked through the cold corridor and waited in my usual spot for Draco after dinner. As he walked closer I could still see in his face that he was still slightly upset about our conversation during study period."Hi Darling." I said, mimicking his usual nickname to me which caused a small grin on his face. We kissed quickly before taking a seat in a hidden arch way.
"How was your day?" I asked
"Alright, yours?" He said. I could tell he was trying to seem not bothered about the situation.
"It ended up being a dance class." This caught his attention, "But I danced with Hermione most of the time." I could tell he seemed more relaxed now he had heard this information. "Look Draco, I want you to know there isn't anything to be worried about, right now I'm just focused on you and I certainly aren't trying to get with my best friends."
"In all honesty, I shouldn't really care too much, I mean we aren't even boyfriend and girlfriend, but thanks." He responded, giving me kiss. I didn't really like his brutal honesty but it was true, we weren't official but I liked how our relationship was going.
"If we're being honest, I'd like to say that you could be a bit more affectionate in public. I know we don't have to flaunt our 'relationship' but it would still be nice." I said, looking at him for an answer.
"We'll see what I can do."

Thank you for reading!
I do like chapters like this, they aren't too important to the storyline but they add character to the book.
