Dear Diary,
Breakups really change people, especially the first. I can feel myself changing every passing day. How I see the world, how I perceive people, everything's changed.

I've come to accept that Smith and I were never really meant to be. Now, I just want us to be friends; if he'll let us be 'cause he doesn't seem to want anything to do with me.

Ohh well, you can't force what's not, can you?

It's been a month since the breakup. It had spread like wildfire throughout the school from the lips of Tracy, Elsie, Lorraine, and Smith. The school blog run by Elsie had had it as a headliner.

Breanna had accepted the breakup with a heavy heart. She clearly wasn't over feelings for Smith but she knew there was no use now.

Smith on the other hand, had set out for a new girlfriend - she wasn't exactly brand new. Smith had decided to go for his -ex Judy.

Smith and Judy had had a rough breakup a few months before he had asked Breanna out. He had embarrassed Judy at the school cafeteria calling her a lot of name: cheap, spoiled, rude, dirty ....

"That's what you get for dating a senior." Elsie had written in her blog.

** Judy had met Smith while he was in Melbourne before he was struck with Leukemia. They only hung out a couple of times when Smith began to 'catch feelings'.

At the time, he still loved Breanna but thoughts of Judy began to cloud his feelings for Breanna.

He didn't know whether to go back to Judy or not. Breanna's breakup message had served as the perfect excuse for him to leave her. **

"Are you sure Judy wants to come back to you?" Julian asked doubtfully.

He was a little disappointed Smith was thinking of going back to his ex-girlfriend after everything he had done to her.

"She seemed to feel the same way I felt at Melbourne - body language."
"Body language? Hmmm... you're sure of what you're saying 'cause the Judy I know doesn't show the littlest of feelings."

"The Judy you know, not the Judy at Melbourne."
"I honestly don't think any girl in her right state of mind would go back to her 'ugly' past."
Smith was very confident Judy would come back to him. He felt she wouldn't be able to resist his charm.

"Look, just leave it to me," he smirked.

After school, Smith stopped Judy to talk to her.

"Hey Judy," he said giving an unbelievably wide smile.
"Smith."

She acted the least pleased to see Smith back in Chippendale. Since he had returned, they had never spoken to each other although, they had crossed each other's paths once or twice.

"Smith,what's up?"
"Nothing actually,"
"Nothing? Then I should be on my way."

She turned to catch up with her friends but he caught up to her arm. Apparently, he wasn't finished.

"Judy, please let's talk somewhere less crowded."
"Okay, but this had better be quick."

They walked down to an empty classroom. Just as they walked in, he shut the door behind them.

Judy dropped her backpack, rested on the teacher's desk while Smith stood anxiously in front of her.

He didn't know why he felt uneasy but now, all his confidence was gone.

"Judy, remember in Melbourne when I kinda kissed you," he said

I could have started  in a better way.
