Smith had gone through Elsie's blog that morning. It had come with a lot of birthday wishes from everyone, including those he didn't know.

It pays to be popular at times

He wasn't wrong, being popular always got him a lot of privileges.

He had received a birthday message from Breanna as well. He couldn't deny it, she still held a special place in his heart. He was grateful to have met someone like her.

By 12pm, the Reyes' home was flooded with teenagers carrying loads of gifts.

Smith kept his eyes out for his special guest.

She was running late. Kiara had had a little problem with her ride to the party, so she didn't turn up on time. She was getting really nervous as she drew closer to Smith's front door.

She gently rang the door bell as she had arrived. She prayed silently that Scarlet wouldn't be the one to welcome her. Her prayers were answered.

True, Kiara hadn't prayed for Smith to be the one at the door but he had been waiting patiently for her.

"Sorry I'm late," she said straightening up her dress trying to relieve herself from all the tension.

"No problem. For a moment though I thought you were going to bail but now I see you were just running late."He replied leading her to the party.

She only smiled nervously trying to keep cool.

"I have to say, you look amazing. You must've taken your time to get ready."

She couldn't help smiling, she knew it wasn't the reason for her lateness but she was ready to go with that.

"Let me get you a drink."

Smith hadn't left for up to a minute when Elsie came by.

"Hi Kiara."

This is awkward

"Hey," she replied trying her best to keep her cool.

"I didn't know you were a friend of Smith's. I mean good friends... good enough to be invited to his party."

Elsie was definitely heading somewhere with this conversation.

"Hey Elsie." Smith was back,  he had two bottles of soda with him, obviously for Kiara and himself.

"Oh hi Smith! Great party!... Oh I was just saying hi to your friend over here," she said giving  Kiara a sly smile as she walked away.

"Did she say anything to you?" Smith asked handing Kiara a bottle.
