09. NARRATIVE

lola sat in the living room of the sway house and was honestly bored out of her damn mind. pretending to be drunk is so tiring and what's even more tiring is watching vinnie flirt with every girl in the room. she analysed which move he might use on the next girl and she was stuck on him using a pickup line or completing her outfit.

"what an idiot," she said to herself. "can't wait 'till someone decides to call the cops so i can be put out of my misery."

jaden sat down next to her and began to talk but she wasn't listening. she payed attention to vinnie and only vinnie, she didn't like him at all but she was interested in what would happen next.

"lola! did you even hear anything i said?" she looked back at him and smiled.

"uh yea," she didn't. she prayed he would change the subject but he didn't.

"so what do you think i should do?" she was forced to think long and hard about what she was going to say. she didn't know what the hell he said so whatever she says could affect his whole life.

"go for it," he seemed pleased with this response due to how tightly he hugged her and the kiss he placed on her head. "you're welcome?"

once he went away you began to feel lightheaded. you weren't drinking so you didn't really know what the reason was. the third month has only just started so it honestly can't be the baby.

everyone noticed that lola wasn't drinking but they didn't really care as long as they were having fun. she spotted bryce and already knew what was coming.

"hey beautiful," he sat down next to her. lola got up and walked away, he tried to follow but lost her due to how many people were inside.

she turned the corner and saw sissy kissing someone so she decided to go the other way. once she continued she saw mads in tears.

"mads? what's wrong?" she knew what went wrong. the moment she saw her friends tears hit the ground, she knew what she had done.

"jaden..." her voice was weak. "we broke up. it just happened out of no where!" she threw her arms up and slumped down.

"i'm sorry," she frowned and pulled her in for a hug. what she didn't know is that mads could feel the bump. mads placing a hand on lola's stomach and pushed a bit. "what?"

"lola are you pregnant?"

"no i just gained a bit of weight," obviously mads didn't believe this.

"lola marie alvarez!" she couldn't keep up the charade anymore.

"fine, i'm pregnant." mads went on a whole rant about how she shouldn't be drinking (she wasn't), she should've told her (it wasn't her business either way) and if she needed any help.

"sissy is helping me out with everything, i'm not drinking, and i didn't feel like telling anyone if i'm being honest." she didn't want to tell mads that vinnie is the father of the twins due to how much he didn't want to be apart of their life.

she knew that no matter what he said, he didn't want anything to do with the twins. he was just there not to look like an asshole but in the end he doesn't care.

"so who's the father?"

"i don't wanna talk about it," fortunately, she didn't mention the father ever again. they mutually agreed to never speak on the pregnancy ever again.

once everything was in order, the two sat outside and just hung out. lola began to shiver but didn't say anything.

"lola!" she turned around and saw vinnie calling her. "come here." he commanded.

does he think i'm an animal? she went to him and he pulled her into a room.

"the fuck you want?" she stated at him blankly.

"alright, no need to speak like i left you at the alter," she ignored his comment and urged for him to continue.

"here." he handed her a jacket that was obviously too big for her. she stared at it and he placed it in her arms. "you're freezing, put it on."

"this is for?"

"so you can stop staring at me like a lost puppy," he told her. he noticed the way she looked at him when he flirted with girls. "i saw you staring at the back of my head."

"don't flatter yourself," she rolled her eyes and got up. "you're nothing special, you're just an asshole who chooses to be nice so no one knows how shitty you really are." he didn't know what to say. she never really spoke to him like that no matter how much she hated him.

"i-" she cut him off.

"not everyone is in love with you so stop acting like it. you're just some pretty boy who did absolutely nothing and got famous. i was just the dumbass who got drunk and slept with you." she left. she felt awful but she's been dying to get that off her chest.

at this point she didn't know if she hated him or not. she laughed when she was around him but each time she felt like crying. she loves the twins but what would her life be if she hadn't gotten pregnant. 

she walked and walked until she was stopped by jaden. she wasn't really listening but she knew he was saying something. 

"so what i'm trying to say is that i like you and was hoping you'd go out with me some time," that when she really heard him. whe looked up at him, confused as to what she should say. she never really saw him that way and he's her friends boyfriend- ex boyfriend.

"no," she said softly and walked off. he tried to follow but gave up. he was heart broken but he knew that she would've said no. she didn't realize it but jaden could tell she had a soft spot for vinnie.
