A/N: I know Regulus was two years younger than Sirius, but in this, I made him two years older

I also know that the Black family ages are different, but I changed them too

Aurora went up to her Commons Room and sat down on the sofa. She laid her textbooks out and started to work on her homework. All the Gryffindors maintained their distance from her. "What the Hell?" Aurora turned around to see who it was. James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter. It was mostly James and Sirius; Remus and Peter trailed them. "What? Is doing homework here illegal now?"

"That's not what we're talking about, and you know it!" James cried. Aurora rolled her eyes. Of course she knew what this was about. She enjoyed watching them spell it out for her. "I don't, actually."

"You sat with the Slytherins!"

"So?"

"So?! Have you never heard of the rivalry between Gryffindor and Slytherin?!" Sirius yelled. He looked like he could have exploded into a million different pieces. "I have."

"THEN WHY WOULD YOU BECOME BEST BUDS WITH ONE?!"

"Why do you care, Sirius?" She asked abruptly. She collected her books. It was clear she wouldn't get any work done here. "It's not like we're friends. What's it to you with who I hang out with? Huh? I'll be friends with Sev if I want to. You guys can't control who I'm friends with or not." She stormed off to her room. So annoying.

A few months passed by. She only ever hung out with Severus now. He was her only friend. "Pureblood," She said. The entrance to the Slytherin Commons Room opened. She spent most of her time here. "Hey, Sev!" He looked up to her and smiled. He grew to like her. The only person he smiled at before, was Lily. Now he smiled at Aurora too. "Rory. I'm done with homework. You?"

"Almost," She answered, starting on her homework. She laid her legs out on the table. The other Slytherins didn't find her presence here weird anymore. They were used to her now. They've somewhat adopted her. Most nights, she slept in Severus's dorms. She barely ever went to the Gryffindor Commons Room. She didn't miss them much. "Hey, Rora. Want to go out and do something?" Orion asked. He wanted to hang out with his sister. Aurora looked at Severus guiltily. "Sorry, Ri. I was in mid-"

"Rory, it's okay. Go with your brother. You haven't hung out with him in a while anyway. I'll be fine," Severus convinced. Aurora hugged her friend and went off with her twin. She missed him a lot, even though she saw him a whole lot. They have Defense Against the Dark Arts together, but that was it. Outside of that, he mostly hung out with his friends and she hung out with hers.

Orion led her outside to his friends. She saw his group and scowled. "Ri," She said as they joined his friends, "I thought you said it would just be us."

"Come on. It would be nice for you to make other friends, you know!" Aurora looked at his friends blankly and back at him. "Why would I need other friends?"

"Severus is...a bit weird."

"Take. That. Back. Now. Sev is not weird. I won't have my own brother call him weird."

"Okay, okay. He's not weird, but still. You only hang out with him."

"What, you two joined at the hip or something?" A guy said. Aurora didn't know his name.

"No. I just...don't have other friends. I could if I wanted to, though."

"Really?"

"Yeah...Potter and his friends seem like lovely candidates." They sneer at Aurora and Orion looks disapprovingly at his sister. Aurora rolled her eyes. "Reason number one why I won't be friends with these fools. They can't take a joke. Why would I want to be friends with Potter, even? Or his jerky friends? Ri, I love you and all, but we don't have to have the same friend group." Aurora started to turn away, but Orion grabbed her wrist, stopping her. "Come on, sis. I miss you. Don't you miss me? And they're not as bad as you think they are. I'll introduce you. Come on!" Aurora sighed as she looked into her brother's pleading eyes. She didn't like disappointing them. "Fine." Orion's frowny face quickly turned into a big grin.
