.......... Reader's Point of View ..........

Okay, so... After Hagrid's class kind of went slightly wrong, the rest of our period was cancelled, right? So Harry, Ron, and I (not Hermione, she had to go do... something. I don't know, I don't question Hermione after that one time) went back to the common room with Seamus, Dean, and some of the other Gryffindors.

The only thing that was actually keeping us from relaxing in the common room was the Fat Lady. No, seriously, her singing and extremely annoying and I think I've lost my hearing in at least one ear by now.

"Hey, what's going on here?" Percy called out as he made up to the top of the stairs.

That was when I realised we probably looked a LITTLE bit suspicious mingling in the hallway in the middle of the period. Ron said hi to Percy, who just gave him a nod of acknowledgement, then turned to the rest of us and asked us why we weren't in class.

Harry and I looked at each other while Seamus and Dean started stuttering through an explanation, clearly intimidated by Percy (even though he's just an arse most of the time).

"Basically," I interrupted, "Hagrid was doing a lesson and Malfoy didn't listen to instructions and got hurt, so Hagrid had to take him to the hospital and now we have the rest of the period free."

Percy looked a little suspicious at first but then was interrupted by an 'aHEM' from the Fat Lady.

"Watch this!" she trilled and I internally groaned when she started screaming again. Harry looked like he was fighting the urge to cover his ears and Ron had already covered his ears, clearly not wanting his eardrums to burst.

Then, when Percy finally managed to get the Fat Lady to let us in the common room, Seamus decided it would be a great idea to play Exploding Snaps. This... this did not end well for Seamus. For... obvious reasons.

So while Seamus was recuperating (Dean was helping him fix the sofa, but you know, there's only so much you can do at this point), Ron thought it would be a good idea to play Wizard's Chess as we still had some time to kill.

   Hence, this:

"What? Ron, that's not fair!" Harry exclaimed when Ron snatched his Queen off the board.

"It is fair! She was right next to my rook, she had it coming to her!"

"No she didn't! She just wanted to protect her husband, you didn't have to kill her!" I retorted from the sidelines.

"Yeah, Ron, that was rude! Knight to A2." Harry told the Knight. The Knight slid to A2 and promptly cut down the rook that killed Harry's Queen. "They had a whole life planned out together! They were gonna go to the beach this weekend! You know, at their royal beach that they totally own because they're royalty."

"I bet my King's beach is better than yours. Bishop to A3. Check." Ron snickered when Harry cried out in indignation as Ron's bishop killed his Knight.

"How dare you! Sir White Knight the First didn't deserve such an end. Er- crap. King to D1. Wait, no, I take it back-"

   "Rook to D2. Checkmate."

"No!" Harry cried as his King's sword fell from his hands. "Aw, come on."

"I would challenge you, Ron, but I don't think we have enough time. You might wanna pack this up, I think class starts in- oh, crap, we have five minutes. Hurry up!"
