"I can't tie this stupid thing," Fitz muttered to himself before throwing it on the floor.

A bowtie would have to do.

Jemma was getting married to a fellow S.H.I.E.L.D agent 4 years after the events of Hydra's S.H.I.E.L.D. takeover.

Fitz couldn't be happier for Jemma but he was worried. He didn't want the marriage to rip him and Simmons apart.

Of course, Leo would never tell her this, but ever since he remembered he could only see them as Fitzsimmons.

He pictured them getting married and living as agents until they could retire from it and live a normal life together.

When Jemma announced the marriage, those dreams all disappeared and he had to move on.

He put the bowtie in and grabbed his phone before walking out the door.

The ceremony was going to be held at a local garden center, where Jemma had planned to have it ever since she was a teenager.

He arrived and was directed to Jemma's room.

He knocked and the door creaked open.

Jemma, her mother, two cousins, and aunt were all in the room.

"Fitz! You're not supposed to see me in my dress," she said, sheepishly and try to cover it up.

"Isn't that for the groom?" He chuckled, and she nodded.

"Oh yeah, it is, isn't it? I just always expecting to be saying that to you."

The room grew quiet as Simmons quickly realized what she just said, she tried to play it off.

"But, you can see it." He was pulled into the room and she twirled around, giggling like a child.

She had never looked more beautiful to him, as she hunched over from laughing so hard.

"You look very handsome, Fitz," she mentioned, fixing his bowtie.

"Thanks for agreeing to be the 'Man of Honor'," she stated, putting air quotes around Man of Honor.

She decided that Fitz was going to be the "Man of Honor" when the time came for the wedding.

A knock on the door, "10 Minutes."

Jemma walked over to the quiet man and hugged him.

"Everything will be fine, Fitz. It'll all be over after a while, then you can go home and you don't have to worry about the attention anymore."

"I brought you something," he said, pulling a box out of his pocket.

It was a necklace, shaped like a small box.

"What is this?" she asked, and his smile was wide as can be.

Inside the box there was a small engraving of the Tardis and to the right of that, was an engraving of her.

A smile approached her lips and she looked up at Leo.

"You wash up on a deserted island alone," he started.

"Sitting on the sand is a box," she finished.

"What's in that box?"

"The TARDIS," Fitz blurted out and she replied, "Simmons."

They were staring at eachother for a while before he broke the silence.

"Something new, I was told you needed something. Glad I could be the one to provide it."

She hugged him and kissed his cheek. "Thank you, Leo. I love it."

He quickly nodded and opened the door.

"Good luck, Jemma. I love you."

"I love you too," she replied and he left.

Butterflies grew in her stomach as she checked last minute touches on her.

She looked stunning, Fitz wished she was his.

He prepared for the ceremony and walked out and onto the stage.

He caught glimpse of Jarred, her fiance, and sneered.

He really didn't like him.

The music cued and Fitz's eyes turned toward the door. The door swung open and Jemma walked down the aisle. He couldn't keep his eyes off her and she, couldn't keep her eyes off him either.

She eventually looked at Jarred, and met him on the stage.

The wedding ceremony began and they said their vows.

Leo couldn't keep his eyes off her, he wished he was Jarred right now, she looked so beautiful.

"If any person here can show why these two people should not be joined in holy matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace."

He didn't know what he was saying or why he was, but he did.

And Jemma Simmons wasn't surprised one goddamn bit.

"I object!' He yelled, and everyone gasped, turning to look at him.

He stared at Simmons, shocked expressions on both of their faces.

"Jemma, please. I know why you're doing this, you can't marry him. You know that."

She stared at Fitz, and shook her head.

"No, Leo. I-I love him. I don't feel the same way about you, please move on."

He couldn't believe the words coming out of her mouth, that's not what he expected.

He ran down the steps and down the path, before stopping at the door.

He turned around and bobbed his head back and forth.

"I know why you're doing this, Jemma. It's not your fault, as much as you think it is. He left us down in that pod, not you. He damaged my brain, not you. You could've stayed, all I needed was you."

She let a tear fall down her cheek as she tilted her head to the side.

"I love you, Jemma Simmons and you know that. I love you more than life, I love you more than monkeys," she let a small smirk come out of her mouth.

"And I love you more than science."

She looked down at her feet, Jarred had been completely invisible to the public. Everyone was focused on Fitzsimmons.

"If I never would've wanted to find out more about GH-325, it would've never happened. Your brain would've never been damaged. You gave me the breath, you wouldn't take it and because of that your brain got damaged. Then when I stuck around, you showed no sign of getting better. I loved you too, Fitz and it took me such a long time to realize it and I'm sorry."

The audience 'awed' and the smiles on their faces grew stronger.

"I just wanted you there, Jemma. I could've healed quicker, we could've gotten married and lived the life we've talked about. I loved you then, I love you now, and I'll always love you. Please, just say you love me too."

She shook her head, "I don't-"

"Jemma, please."

She looked at Jarred, and then at the priest and then back at Fitz.

"I love you, Leopold Fitz."

She threw the ring intented for Jarred on the ground and ran to Fitz.

He kissed the top of her head and gathered her in his arms.

"Let's get married," he whispered in her ear and she gave him a crazy look before nodding.

"Let's do this."

And they lived as Fitzsimmons, happily ever after.
