Ron's POV

-

"Okay, and this is a Thestral," I say, pointing at a picture in the book I brought up to help her. She scoots closer to me, putting her hand down to lean on it. Her hand lands on mine I look up at her.

She is easily one of the most beautiful girls I have ever laid my eyes on.

Our faces are about 5 inches apart, and I can't help my eyes from trailing down from her eyes to her lips. I start to lean in, and so does she. Just as the tips of our noses touch, I back up. She looks at me, a surprised look on her face. "I'm sorry, I-" I start.

"You know what," She says, picking up her things. "It's getting kind of late I think I'm going to go to bed," She quickly walks out of the room and down the stairs.

"The sun hasn't even set," I say sadly, watching her go.

Why am I such an idiot?

I go down to the Great Hall for dinner, hoping Y/n is down there already.

"Hey, Luna," I smile, sitting down besides her. "Is y/n here?"

"Hello there, Ron," She smiles back. "She was reading her books when I left. I told her we were going to dinner, but she said she wasn't hungry," She shrugs. I put my head down and bang it on the table.

"It was quite odd though," She starts, making me look up at her, my head still down on the table. "While reading her Care of Magical Creatures textbook, she kept avoiding the page on Thestrals,"

I start banging my head on the table once again.

"Well hello little brother," Fred smiles, sitting across from me. "On today's episode of How Did Ron Mess Up,"

"What did you do, Ron?" George sighs, obviously disappointed in me.

"I took y/n up to the Astronomy Tower so I could help her study-" I start, but I'm interrupted.

"When you say study do you mean snog?" Fred laughs. I shake my head. "Boring,"

"No, Hagrid told me to teach her about the creatures she missed lessons on. I took her up there and we were about to start looking at the page about Thestrals when she accidentally put her hand on mine. We looked at eachother and we started leaning in but when we were about to kiss I backed up," I sigh, shaking my head in disappointment with myself.

"Oy mate, you truly are a bloody idiot," George says, shaking his head.

"You messed her up so bad she's not reading the page about thestrals Ron," Fred says, taking a bite out of his food. "She's not even down here,"

"She ran out and said she was going to bed. The sun hadn't even set yet," I sigh again.

Even Hermione and Neville grimace.

"Mate, you obviously fancy her," Harry starts.

"No I do not," I say. Everyone looks at me suspiciously. "Okay maybe a little,"

"Then just talk to her. It's not that difficult," Harry shrugs.

"Not that difficult, my arse," Hermione laughs, leaving harry looking surprised. "You've had a crush on Cho for ages and you still haven't worked up the courage to even speak to her,"

"Shut your mouth, Hermione," He pouts.

"Y/n is very easy to talk to," Fred smiles. "You're just overcomplicating this, mate,"

"I'll go talk to her now," I say, standing up and walking out of the room. I start walking over to her dormitory. I knock on the door.

"Go away, Ron," Y/n says quietly. I sigh.

"Y/n, please let me in," I knock again. I hear foot steps and she opens the door. She's wearing shorts with the logo of the Chudley Cannons on them, and a big t-shirt. She's wearing her hair in a messy ponytail and has a cute pair of glasses on.

Bloody hell, I'm going to fall in love with this girl.

"Chudley Cannons?" I ask. She looks down and starts fidgeting with her rings.

"Yeah, I don't know. My mom got these for me for Christmas, I didn't know who they were until Malfoy told me about quidditch,"

Malfoy? She knows Malfoy?

"You wear glasses?" I ask nervously, not knowing how to start the conversation I came here to start.

"Yeah, I do," She sighs. "Did you want something, or?"

"I wanted to apologize, for today," I state. "I shouldn't have made it seem like I was going to kiss you when I knew I wasn't going to. I wouldn't kiss you that's strange. I don't want to kiss you. Well I don't want to-" I stop talking when I see her face. Her expression completely drops. She stops fidgeting with her rings and adjusts her glasses on the bridge of her nose.

"I'll see you at breakfast tomorrow, Ron," She says sadly, closing the door in my face.

I am such an absolute idiot.

I walk over to my common room, where Fred, George, Harry, and Hermione are all waiting for me. I sit on the couch and press my hands to my face.

"Didn't go well, did it?" Harry asks, bluntly. I shake my head.

"Pay up, mate," Fred says to George, opening up his hand. George throws 5 galleons at his brother.

"You idiots bet on your brother?" Hermione asks. Fred and George look at her and smile. She smacks George on the arm. "What is wrong with the both of you?"

"I messed up, bad," I say, frustrated. "I've never been this way before. Not with anyone else. I don't know what it is but she just- does something to my brain,"

"You're whipped mate," George laughs.

"I barely know the girl," I say looking up at him.

"And that's what makes it worse," Fred says. "You can't keep messing up like this, she'll stop talking to you,"

"I would," Hermione says. "Just stop trying so hard, Ron. Treat her like you treat Luna and I,"

"That's not possible. She's just different. She's amazing. I barely know her but I can tell. She's beautiful on the inside and out," I say, thinking about the way she was dressed when she opened the door for me.

"Are you saying Hermione's not any of those things?" George asks. Hermione looks at him.

"At least not to me," I shrug.

He looks over at Hermione, then looks away. "She is to me," He mutters under his breath, not knowing Hermione heard him, causing her to look away and blush.

"You're only allowed to talk to her when we're around, how about that?" Neville says, walking into the room.

"Good idea, mate," Fred laughs.
