"Glenn, I'm so tired," I mumble, trudging behind the group.
"Just a little further, Andrew," Glenn tells me. "Do you have your backpack?"
I shake my head. "No, it's at Woodbury."
Glenn stops in his tracks, causing everybody to bump into each other.
"When's the last time you had your meds?" Glenn questioned.
The sound of medication scares me and I shake my head.
"No, no more."
"Andrew?" Glenn moves closer to me and I trip over my feet in my haste to getaway.
"That's enough." Abraham steps in front of me. "You're scaring him."
"I don't know why? He has this backpack, it has his medication in it for Juvenile Fibromyalgia." Glenn tells Abraham.
"He was drugged." Tara pipes up.
Heads turn towards her.
"What?" Glenn's eyes widen with disbelief.
Tara kneels next to me, grabbing my arm and pushing the sweater up. The trace marks from the needs had small bruises, a mixture of purple and green.
I pull my arm away, shoving the sleeve down.
"No, I'm sorry." I grab my hair. "Please, no more closet."
"Closet?" Glenn echoes, looking to Tara who shrugs helplessly.
"Let him be." Rosita snaps at Tara who reaches out to me.
"The meds, the monster, the closet," I mumble, tears streaming down my face. "I'll be a good boy, I promise. No more punishment."
"Hey, kiddo." Abraham kneels to my height. "There's no meds, no punishments, and certainly no closets. And as far as I can tell, you've been a very good boy."
I turn my head, looking at my shoes.
"Hey, kid. Eyes back on me." Abraham snaps his fingers to gain my attention again. "Take a deep breath. You gotta remember to breathe."
I inhale a large amount of air, the sense of my lungs filling with clean air calms me.
"Better?" Abraham double-checked.
I nod.
"Okay. I'm going to pick you up to give you a break from walking. Okay?" Abraham stands up, waiting for my reply.
I let out a cautious nod and Abraham helps me to my feet before he lifts me.
He places me on his shoulders and I felt really tall.
"Keep a lookout up there, can you do that?" Abraham questioned.
I nod, looking around at our surroundings.
There were signs we were following.
I wasn't sure of how to pronounce the big words but we were going there.
