They reached Gusu after four days of travel. Getting in, and quickly being escorted to their rooms. The three unpacked, and rested through the night.

The next day, walking into the lecture hall, they were greeted by Lan Qiren, Lan Wangji, Lan Xichen, and a man that kept his face down, obstructing his face frow view.

Both sides bowed "It's an honor to meet you Young Master Jiang and Young Master Wei, the one behind you two must be Young Master Wei's elder brother isn't he? It is good you were able to reunite." Upon hearing this, the man behind to Lans flinched, slowly raising his head.

"Yes, I am Wei Qi, courtesy name, Zhaohui. It is a honor to meet you too, Zewu-Jun." Now as Wei Zhaohui, he bowed deeply to the elder twin jade.

"I am Jiang Cheng, courtesy name, Wanyin." Jiang Cheng bowed in a very proper manor.

"Wei Ying! Courtesy name Wuxian, nice to meet you!" Wei Ying smiled brightly, earning a smack in the back of his head from Jiang Cheng, after he didn't bow properly.

"This is my uncle, and your teacher for the next year, Lan Qiren. I am Lan Huan, courtesy name Xichen. This is my younger brother."

"Lan Zhan. Courtesy name Wangji."

Lan Zhan...

It was then time for the man in back to introduce himself. When he completely raised his head, Wei Zhaohui was shocked.

"I am Lan Zhong, courtesy name Nianzu."

A long pause.

WHAT THE HELL?!

Lan Zhan..?

His face resembled exactly that of the Lan Zhan in the future, the Lan Zhan that desperately insisted for him to go back to Gusu with him.

"I am the elder brother of them," pointing towards the Twin Jades. "I left Gusu shortly before Wangji was born, so you may have not heard of me." Wei Zhaohui felt his feet grow cold.

He's talking an awful lot.

The studies started the day after introductions. Wei Ying could be seen dozing off, twirling around anything he could see with his fingers.

Noticing this, Lan Qiren took out a large scroll, unrolled it to reveal that it had all of the sect rules written on the scroll. One by one, Lan Qiren read each rule with a stern impression, shouting the ones that Wei Ying was currently breaking, a bit fiercer than the others.

"I read these because one of you seem to haven't read the large rock filled of rules." Seeing that Wei Wuxian was unphased, he shouted out basic questions any cultivator should know at the back of their hands at him. Which indeed did the young master know them, answering each question with ease and confidence, correctly too.

"Now, an executioner killed over one hundred people, as retribution, the families of the executed, didn't bury the executioners body. He is now a resentful ghost haunting the well-being of the locals. How do you deal with this?"

Wei Wuxian contemplated, seeming as if he didn't know the answer, Lan Qiren asked his prized disciple, Lan Wangji.

"Wangji, can you answer for Young Master Wei?"

Lan Wangji simply nodded, "First, liberate. Second, suppress. Third, eliminate. The initial approach is to utilize the gratitude of his realitives and grant his dying wish, set free what he could not let go of. If it fails, suppress it. If the crimes were extremely wrongful, and its energy of resentment does not dissapate, exterminate it completely. The cultivation world should precisely keep to this order of measures. No errors should be allowed."

Textbook answer, as always.

"What a waste." The words were heard leaving Wei Wuxian's mouth.

"It's not that I didn't have an answer, I was just looking for a fourth option."

"I have never heard of a fourth way to eliminate evil spirits."

"Ah, but isn't resentful energy also energy? If we can use spiritual energy, why not resentful? Couldn't we use evil to fight evil?"

Lan Qiren had a face of disgust, "And how do you expect for the resentful energy to stay under control, and it won't hurt innocents?!"

Wei Wuxian stopped, "I never thought about that."

Lan Qiren was furious, "If you had an answer to that, the world would not allow of your existence!" Grabbing a book to throw at Wei Wuxian.

"Get los-"

He was cut off by a low voice, "Teacher Lan." Wei Zhaohui raised his hand.

"What?!" The Lan yelled.

"If you are able to control the temperment, and accomplish finishing its dying wish, you would be able to manipulate the spirit's resentful energy. Which when mastered, you can avoid it from hurting others."
Heh. In the end, I wasn't able to control the temperment, which led me to my downfall.

"And how do you know that will work?!" He shouted.

Wei Zhaohui smirked, I don't, but I also do, "Well, as one who has practiced demonic cultivation for the last six years, I would know, wouldn't I?"

What the hell?!

The whole class gasped in unison, Lan Qiren's of more anger than shock. "How could you use the crooked path to cultivate?! Crafty ways are never something that should be practiced, anyone who uses them should be condemned to death!"

Standing up, Wei Zhaohui felt highly angered and offended, "And how do you expect me to allow myself to rot away, as I am eaten alive by resentful energy, with no core to use spiritual energy from?!" Slaming his hand onto the desk, glaring daggers at Qiren.

"You! Get lost!" He was stunned a demonic cultivator dared step into the Cloud Resesses of the righteous GusuLan sect.

Zhaohui simply stood up, "Gladly."

_______

Welcome to the universe of universes my child, Lali here!

Zhaohui - Brightness returns
Nianzu - Thinking of ancestors
Qi - Arising, wonderous
Zhong - Loyalty, devotion

Aren't the names quite fitting? I used a name generator, so please excuse me if they aren't one hundred percent acurate. Wei Zhaohui and Lan Nianzu is how I am going to narrate the future Wei Ying and Lan Zhan characters from now on, but please remember the past selves and future selves are still the same people, just two seperate entities. The first few chapters were highly inspired by another fanfiction called "Mingyu," please read it, it's has an amazing storyline. I tried to keep them as different as possible, but ended up having the concepts quite similar, and I liked the first few chapters too much to delete them and start over. The next chapter is where the storyline kind of turn different, so I hope it turns out! Again, please read "Mingyu," by Fino_Al_Cielo as well, as it has a great author writing it, and the storyline is very good currently!

And goodbye good children! See you in the next chapter!
