I listened to the beat of my foot steps on as I ran down the side walk. I noticed the trees were blooming. The pink color of flower buds caught my eye. I can't believe it's already-

BANG!!

I fell on my back and instinctively got up and was in defensive position. I look down and saw a girl who looked about 18. Long brown hair, an oval face with brown eyes staring up at me. I paused for a moment looking at her in disbelief.

"I'm so sorry" I exclaimed finally

"No! No it's my bad" she said reassuringly. I gave her my hand and helped her up. That's when her scent invaded my nose. Man she smelled bad! How many vampires are in this town? I asked myself. I had to breath heavily, so I could calm myself.

"Are you ok"

"Yeah, definitely" she replied. Are you new in town, I haven't seen you before? She asked dusting herself off.

"Oh! Yeah I just move here. I'm Sam.

"Elena" she said happily.

"Elena?" I said without control.

"Yes?" She said confused. "Elena Gilbert"

" That's a nice name" I recovered quickly.

"You know, I run here every morning. So if you want someone to run with, I live just around the corner" she said with a smile.

"Oh wow!" I said surprised "That's really nice of you"

She smiled at the compliment and took it as a green light to keep talking.

"You know, if you want to meet some new people in town, there is a party tonight at The Grill." She said "Do you know where that is?"

"Yes" I said flatly.

"Well you are more then welcome to come and hangout."

I could use a break, I thought. And a party sounds like a good idea.

"Sure" I said energetically

"Great, it starts at eight. I'll see you there" then she ran around me and sprinted away.

I watched her as she turned the corner. I was to surprised to look away. Did I really just see that?

I guess me moving back here is going to be more interesting then I thought.

A couple of hours later I walked into the Grill. Teenagers packed together, cheap alcohol, sweaty boys, and desperate girls. There's nothing like a high school party. I squished through the people and made my way to the bar.

"Long time no see" a voice said behind me. It made my knees weak, and there was only one person I knew who could do that.

"Damon" I said. I turned around to find him inches from my face. I smirked.

"So how'd you find me?" He flirted.

I laughed him. "And how do you know I wasn't here to find....him. I pointed to guy dancing as if he had ants in his shorts. I laughed.

We both stared at each other for what seemed like forever. I forgot how mesmerizing he was. Then someone broke our gaze.

"Damon" a strong voice said. He was tall, and had dusty brown hair. His emerald green eyes stared at Damon. I looked at him and instantly felt warm all over.

"Well hello brother" Damon said irritated. I turned away from the man.

"I need you for a second"

"I'm a little busy with Sam." He spat

"And trust me, a hot girl overpowers annoying brother any day.

"Trust me. You'll want to hear this."

"Don't move" he said kissing me on the cheek. Wow! He is such a flirt. Like who does that. I laughed to myself. This guy is cheesy, but I kind of liked it.

I tucked my hair behind my ear, making sure to keep facing the bar. What was so important?

I focused and suddenly I could hear Damon as clearly as if he were standing right next to me.

"What Stefan?" Damon said. Stefan... I continued to eavesdrop.

"There's two new vampires in town." Stefan said, sounding kind of worried.

"And...."

"They tried to attack Elena. Not knowing she was a vampire"

"Shit!" Damon basically summed up my thoughts exactly.

"What did she do? Did she see what they looked like?"

"They knocked her out and were about to feed on her. That's when i showed up. They ran off before I could catch a glimpse of them." Stefan replied.

I couldn't hear the rest because instead I heard a women screaming outside.
