The ride home was

Suffocating.

Larry didn't dare ask.

The tension

Was taut.

The air thick,

Laurent's tears were

Fat and Round and Plentiful.

Larry couldn't help himself.

* What happened ? *

--  His lawyer says

He has no case to answer.

It was an accident  --

Dare he ?

* It was, wasn't it ? *

Larry asked,

As gently as he could.

If looks could kill.

--  It's against the law

To kill someone, Larry  --

Laurent's face was stern,

Intimidating.

Larry wasn't going to

Win this argument,

So he stopped.

Winning,

Why did there need

To be a winner ?

What was the prize ?

The reward ?

The spoils ?

None,

There were none.

This was a

no win - no win - no win - no win

Situation.

He and Laurent,

Peter,

Olivia,

The man.

There was no winner here,

In this

Disgusting,

Heart wrenching,

Awful

Game of life.

For some reason,

Larry felt the need to

Push the envelope.

He needed to know.

In for a penny ....

* I was only trying to ...... *

--  I know  --

* Do you love me, Laurent ? *

He looked out of

The windows,

Eyes darting,

Tree's, buildings, cars,

Life, pain, hope,

Love.

At least he hadn't yelled at him.

He would have preferred it
