Adam's: POV

January 19th 2005: Forks

"Welcome home Adam." said Charlie. "Thanks dad." I replied. "How's Renée?" he asked. "Mom is fine and I would say hi from Phil." I said. He nodded and it became an awkward silence.

I went up to my room with my stuff and sat down on the bed. I already miss Phoenix and the sun. I understand why mom left Forks.

"Adam." called dad. I walked out to him and on the driveway stood a red pickup. "What is this?" I asked. "Your homecoming present." said Charlie. "For real? thank you so much." I replied happily. "I bought the car by Billy Black, he's sitting in a wheelchair now and can't drive." said Charlie.

Now I don't have to sit in my father's police car to school, it was embarrassing enough that everyone would know who I was.

"Do you like the car?" he asked. "Yes." I said and it wasn't a lie. "I start working early tomorrow but you know the way to school?" asked dad. "I can read a map." I said. "Good." he replied.

I slept badly that night and I tried to shut out the sound from the rain that smattered against the window. The clock passed midnight before I fell asleep with a nervous feeling in my stomach.
