"May I?" Five suggests as he points to the door.

Before actually answering, the old handler sighs deeply. "You may." She replies without laying an eye on him or the wooden door.

In a blink, Five has disappeared together with the blue light that appeared when the handler told him that he could.

"What the hell are you doing here?! I didn't say that you could come in!" We hear Lila yell loudly but neither the old handler or I flinch away or react to it.

"I just want you to let your dear momma convince you to come with us all so we can stop what is going on outside right now!" We hear Five tell her.

"I don't want to see her." The old handler's daughter yells from inside causing me to look up at the old handler.

I scan her face. She looks defeated, broken really. What on earth has happened between her and the young woman that she calls her daughter that is on the other side of this very door right now. Her brows are furrowed and I open my mouth slightly but she cuts me off.

"She found out her real parents were killed because of me." She tells me as her tear filled eyes are straight upon me "They were killed because I sent an agent to their house when she was just a toddler. She found out half a year ago and she left without ever coming back."

My mouth opens more but I still cannot speak up. Before any tears roll down her cheeks, she turns and faces the door once again.

"I can't have her dying. I have to save her, even if she doesn't want me to. I raised her. She might not be my own blood, but she's my daughter and I won't let anything happen to her." Her lips tremble but I can see that she wants to appear strong. She doesn't want to show her daughter how broken she actually is by being apart for such a long time.

I turn to face the door too as my thoughts take over my mind. Maybe she should show her daughter how sad she is? Maybe it would help. What happened in the past can't be undone. It has happened.

Would the old handler change everything she did to Lila's real parents if she still had the forces to do so, is the main question that stays on my mind as we both continue to face the doors.

"I will not have you ruin my damn mission. I don't know who the fuck you really are but I do know that you are very important to the handler. I've worked quite a while for her and I know that she doesn't easily bond with anyone. She mostly kills people easier than giving them a compliment. With you . . ." We hear Five trail off "Well, I can see that she'd do anything for you so at least come with us. I'm not saying that you have to forgive her or hell even say a word to her but come with us so I can save my goddamn family!"

There's a silence of a minute or so and I can tell that the silence killed the handler inside. She wasn't able to hold back all the tears and when there did escape some, she wiped them away immediately. "Don't you dare tell anyone that you saw me crying!" She  growled several times.

Suddenly the floor on the other side of the door cracks and the door slowly opens. Five's head peeps out and a small smile comes upon his lips when his eyes fall upon me.

"We're going." he says, grabbing my hand so he can squeeze in it in order to reassure me a little.

The young woman, walks out of her apartment and does everything in her power not to lock eyes with her adoptive, if that is what you call it, mother.

"Where are we going?" I stand still while Five attempts to go outside. He stops immediately when he notices me standing still. "We can't go to our apartment."

"Why not?" Five tilts his head a little.

"The whole family is there Five." I tell him "They would surely murder the old handler. They loathe her for her attempts to cause the apocalypse. They hate her for everything that happened to their loved ones."

Five's eyes soften and he grabs my other hand too. He looks down at our hands and then he faces me again. The adorable dimples that I don't ever want to miss again, catch my eye.

"We have to. You know they will want to stop whatever that is happening right now with us." he tells me.

"Stop it with us?" I repeat and jerk my hands back "You can't be serious Five!"

I glance back at the old handler and Lila, the old handler's daughter, who are standing a few steps behind us and then look back at my boyfriend.

"John is there! I can't let anything happen to him!" I grow in his ear so that the two women behind us don't hear me "I will protect him."

"Have you seen how the handler is to Lila? She won't kill an innocent child!" he growls back.

I narrow my eyes and take a step backwards. "How would you know that? Are you sure that she hasn't done it before?! I will not risk losing John! I promised that I would always protect him to both Klaus and Dave!" I raise my voice.

A defeated sigh escapes Five's lips and he nods softly. "What if we tell Klaus and Dave to stay in another room with their son? Would that be better?" He tries.

"We have literally everywhere to go. Why can't we just stop everything without them? We've done it in the past and I'm sure we can do it again!" I say, now in a calmer voice.

"It's the umbrella academy! They will get to us one way or another. You don't think they'd stay in our apartment and do nothing if we don't come, do you? God damnit y/n! You know them!" He now raises his voice.

Just now I realise that my eyes are watering. I look down at my feet but it doesn't take long until I lock eyes with Five again.

"I don't want anything to happen to them Five. They're literally the only family I have left together with you. I'm so afraid." I admit, causing Five's facial expressions to soften.

He places my hands in his once again and pulls me closer to him. His forehead leans against mine and I can't help but start sobbing into his arms.

"We will protect them y/n. We always have and we always will. Plus, I think they're pretty strong themselves." He kisses my forehead.

I nod quietly and lay my head in his chest. I truly am frightened. I have lost so much back when I had to stop the apocalypse. I can't go through all of that again.

"Maybe not Luther..." Five says as a smile forms on his lips "He is already sad when his pancake fails."

"That's true." I chuckle and look up at him "I love you Five."

"My y/n... I love you so much more." Five whispers in my ear.

An annoyed sigh is heard behind us and Lila comes to stand next to us.

"Are we going or not?" She says, making Five and me to look at her mother. She is most certainly raised by the old handler.
