Happy Ever After // Kidnapped 3

Chapter 16

Diego, Luther, Lila, Five, Allison and I stand in front of the house of the agent that is our only suspect. Lila went to the commission and found out that he is called Jamie Snow.

My eyes are upon the door in front of me. I'm glad that nobody is pushing me to open the door. I need time to think about how I'll make sure everyone is safe so I can fight Jamie, that is if he is the hooded man. Even though I've promised Five that I wouldn't use the dark powers, I'd do everything and use everything in me so that all these people return to Five and I's apartment safely and alive. I'd break a promise to make sure of that.

I make a fist with my hand and I hold it in front of the door but I don't knock. Something is stopping me. Last time, even from inside a building, I could feel when the hooded man was near. If this really is his house then I'd feel his presence. His hatred. But I don't feel anything right now except for the cold air.

Still, it's worth the try and I knock on the door. I then take a step backwards together with everyone around me.

A hand touches mine and I look at Five who's next to me. A thin but reassuring smile is upon his lips as he takes my hand in his.

When the door opens abruptly I jump another step backwards and free Five's hands in the meantime. In front of us is a man standing with wide eyes. First he looks at Lila who he clearly recognizes. There goes her cover at the commission. Then he slowly looks at each and every one of us. He pauses when his eyes fall upon Five but they go to me rather quickly after that.

"You." he puts his chin up as he continues to look at me "What do you want?"

He isn't kind and he has a clear dislike for me but I don't feel the same hatred as with the hooded man. This is not him.

"We wanted to..." I trail off, not having thought about what I'd say if Jamie wasn't the hooded man.

"Jamie Snow are you the man under the hood?" Lila asks with a stern voice.

"The man under the hood?" Jamie repeats in a chuckle "Have you become mad Lila? A man under a hood? And why are you working with these crazy people?"

I can see Five's famous eye roll and then look back at the man, Jamie Snow. I know it's not him. He doesn't have the hatred radiating from his body. He doesn't loathe me as much as the hooded man.

Even though I hoped that we'd finally found out who the hooded man is, his identity remains secret and we are nowhere in finding it out.

"You haven't heard about the fires?" Lila asks him and he shakes his head.

"What fires?" he shrugs.

I sigh and turn around. "It's not him." I say as I start walking away from Jamie's house.

"Are you sure?" Five's voice stops me and I tell him that I'm indeed sure. This man might dislike me for beating his ass and throwing him against a wall, but he isn't the hooded man.

"Allison..." I hear Luther say Allison's name and I know what's going to happen when she nods.

"I heard a rumor..." she starts "that you forget all about us coming here and that you'll forget all about the hooded man."

While Jamie stands there, watching us with a wary look in his eyes, the rest turns their back on him too. Sighs are heard and I know they're disappointed. I am too.

When we're out of anyone's sight, everyone grabs each others' hands but I don't. I stand still and look at everyone's discouraged expressions.

"Don't let this setback make you give up any hope." I start and everyone's eyes fall upon me "We will find him and we will defeat that bastard."
